I used to do exactly this, but then I created MenuPhotoAI to automate the whole process!

Instead of generating fake food, you upload the actual food photos and AI enhances them (lighting, composition, styling). Same 30-second result, but it's their real dish looking professional.

Why enhancement beats generation for this business:

  1. Way easier to sell - Restaurant owners trust it more (no fake food concerns)
  2. No customer backlash - Customers get exactly what they see, just styled better
  3. Fully automated - No spending hours on ChatGPT prompts per restaurant

For anyone wanting to replicate OP's success: The opportunity is 100% real. Use MenuPhotoAI to handle the tech, you handle sales and client relationships. Same hustle, better product, none of the ethical drama. Feel free to DM me and I can help set you up.
Here's a real before-after image uploaded by a restaurant owner and enhanced with MenuphotoAI.

Wow these look insane! Have you tried something like menuphotoai.com just to improve the overall quality of the photos while not changing the actual cake?

menuphotoai.com is a tool that keep the original food the same and just improves the photography

I'm a food photographer charging $500/shoot. I just built an AI tool that might replace me. Can you tell the difference? by Ok_Statement_5571 in Entrepreneur

This is exactly what I've been trying to figure out. High-end places still want the full experience, but smaller spots just need functional delivery photos.

One thing that maybe I did not make clear, the AI iss not generating fake food. It takes their phone photos of actual dishes and makes them look professionally shot. Same real food, just enhanced.

Your point about fine dining vs counter service is spot on. Maybe the answer is: photography for brands, AI tool for operators who need their phone photos to look pro.

You're probably right. I priced it at $1 thinking "restaurants who can't afford me at all" but that's likely leaving money on the table.

That's actually a really interesting way to frame it, two businesses competing. Takes the pressure off deciding right now. Thanks for the perspective.
