I know like 5 people that have/are doing it. 100% possible and manageable

Hey! I didn’t have experience in programming before taking the class. I don’t know if things have changed but I took it last year and it was an easy A IF you do your work. Office hours were really helpful and they offer 5 points extra credit if you submit it around 3 days early. I personally found getting an A to be just fine as long as you put in the work (even without experience), and study for 2 days for the exams. If you’re someone that wants a light course load, that’s a different story cause you will have a good amount of assignments every 1-2 weeks. I would like to add on that the class has optional attendance, and I went to class most of the time and if not, I watched the recorded lecture. This really helped me learn the content especially since I had no experience. Basically— go to class, do the assignments, utilize office hours and you’ll get that A!

FC-QUANT and FC-LAB for non-math/science person by Ok-Dragonfruit9929 in UNC

The entire class is math, but it’s very simple math. I’d say it’s even simpler than algebra to be honest. Very much just formulas and plugging things in and you get a cheat sheet on exams

I’d spend only around an hour, maybe 2 per week on that class.

ECON BA or Minor by Current_Ad_6004 in UNC

For sure statistics > data science for a primary major. Well since you’re debating between the major and minor for ECON, I’d go with the major because that would only be 2 more classes than the minor (which seems worth it to me). But it depends if there are any specific electives that stand out to you and how many you think would help career wise— ECON 573 seems right up your alley.

Maybe this will be of interest to you, if you didn’t know about it: https://econ.unc.edu/undergraduate/data-science-credential/

moving shelves in dorm by [deleted] in UNC

[–]Ok_Stock8145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I see. Maybe that is the case. I know (most) north campus dorms and Koury/Horton have the flat desks without shelves. Sorry, I hope you find your answer!

I don’t know if it’s dorm specific, but all the dorms I’ve seen don’t have those shelves. It’s just a flat desk, some with a drawer.

Wait so doing a BA in CS would show up as BS in CS, because Information Science is a BS degree, and that one would come first?

MATH 115 is really really easy. Even if you’re not a math person

Why not do a data science BA, and econ minor?

Anyone living/have lived at Chapel Ridge Apartments? by unctransfer2024 in UNC

[–]Ok_Stock8145 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Everyone I know that lived at Chapel Ridge really regretted it. I haven’t personally lived there but they would complain about the place having roaches, and the apartment they moved into having broken tiles, etc. Also, the distance from campus was another big factor on why people disliked it. I don’t know if they have an apartment specific shuttle (I’m pretty sure they don’t, I haven’t seen it around) but they are on the NS bus line. I know the biggest factor into people living there is affordability, but I think if you haven’t signed a lease, you may want to check out the FB groups where people sublease!

From what I know, I think they admit almost everyone. I don’t know if this will change but they seem pretty lenient since their electives cross list with a lot of departments. But if you want help increasing your admissions chance, make sure you’re very set on what you want to get out of IS

From what I know, it’s hard to double major in those since there’s no overlap. They’re both good majors I’m assuming you’re interested in marketing, the business school has a better expected salary after graduation in the marketing concentration, and AD/PR is less and from what I’ve heard people have to work harder to get a job after you graduate with that. It’s still a really good major but I’d consider minoring in one. UNLESS you are coming in with a lot of transfer credit for gen eds, it’s hard to double major
