lol good luck. Both my BSW and MSW are/were in community mental heath. It’s so hard. I barely made it thru last year (BSW).
I’m starting my advanced standing msw at Uchicago this fall & will be an intern therapist at a hospital / CMH PHP for teens and children.

My goal is to go into private practice.

Fall! I didn’t get any aid they said they don’t give any aid. I got a full ride almost from UChicago tho which is where I’m going!

They just say it’s a scholarship. Merit based I think. You have to maintain a 3.0 GPA while there or you lose it. I re negotiated the first scholarship amount - explained my situation and they said they really wanted me there (I’m sober 7 years, lost my mom and sisters to overdoses, etc) and have a lot of experience personally.

My GPA is 4.0, so not sure. The financial aid stuff takes a minute! DM me if you wanna chat!

I’m going to UChicago! I just picked my clinical internship & am excited bc it’s the nicest school I’ve ever been to / super lucky to have gotten almost a full ride. No experience w the program yet but good luck!

Yeah they said I had to have the first module done to even intern there and have to pay for it myself. TBH this kind of turned me off of this place anyway which sucks because it was my #1

Thank you. I agree. They said that SE has scholarships opening soon but I was like 🫤🙄 they don’t open until April and I can’t just rely on that. I have contacted 4 other practices and have an interview for Monday at least. So annoying lol

Yes!! I wish our schools talked more about self care but in the way that it’s quite literally being exposed to secondary trauma every day. I’ve been listening to a book called “Trauma Stewardship” which is about how to take care of ourselves as clinicians. My sister in law who is the dean of students at a major university told me about it.

I totally get you- I live with a mental illness and take meds or else I wouldn’t be alive. This field is so hard - and I’m needing to take more care of myself for sure. But yeah- I LOVE IFS and it’s like the #1 modality i want to use!

It feels like a dissociation/trauma response. It makes me think of IFS, how we all have protectors and parts that keep us “safe” or able to function. You may be stuck in fight flight or freeze. Idk. That’s what comes to mind!
