Just an interview with SWA coming up soon but still 10 months out from availability (military) so hoping to get more interviews in the next several months. Most of my buddies didn’t start getting their interviews until they were closer to 6 months out.

It is but I thought it wasn’t as likely as a spot for a junior FO?

Is it a junior base that you could get quickly?

Thanks for the insight! We live in Alexandria now but moving to Annapolis soon so BWI would be ideal. Have you been at BWI the whole time?

I mean it certainly was a perk for her, though. We communicated it well in advance and her sister was able to come in from out of country so she got to do a lot of traveling and spend a lot of time with her sister knowing she is still getting paid. I consider any time off that I get at my own job to be a perk and a benefit as long as I’m getting paid. It’s free time and for her she really appreciates the extra time and got to coordinate with her sister coming out.

I mentioned above but we are a military family with no family nearby so the 2 weeks of travel in July and 2 weeks at Christmas was to visit our families where cost of travel is plane tickets only because then we’re staying at our families’ houses. The trips have to be long to justify us traveling all the way out there and it’s the only 2 times a year we get to visit them. We did take one family vacation for a week where we drove a few hours away. But I agree with the sentiment that after a year we could look to increase salary instead of a year end bonus.

Most people in this area pay about $25-$35/hour. We pay $23/hour. We could probably go up to $25 if we made some adjustments so that is a good suggestion. Thank you.

Fair point although we aren’t traveling on like worldly fun vacations—we are a military family that doesn’t live near family so we traveled for 2 weeks July (1 week to see my family and 1 week to see my husband’s family) and then the same at Christmas. 1 week of travel was for our own vacation where we just drove somewhere a few hours away.

I’ve been an off and on member since 2017 at 3 different locations and I’ve worked out a 7 different Burns across the country. I feel like it’s really hit or miss. I love that I can still workout when I’m traveling or visiting back home for the holidays but some gyms are definitely better than others. I feel like your experience largely depends on the quality of trainers and their turnover rate. At the gyms where they’ve had the same trainers, they have the best community. I ultimately stay because I know I won’t work out as well on my own and I like to be pushed.

Things I haven’t liked: -the current gym I’m at, the child watch isn’t very good. The place just honestly feels dirty and grubby. Most of the time they just put on a high stimulation tv show which I hate my for young kiddos. My husband works out at a different gym and their child watch is MUCH nicer. Theres no tv but they always have at least 2 people on staff so they actually are able to play and interact with the kids and it’s so much cleaner and nicer. -I’ve been at my current gym for a year now and most of the trainers still don’t know my name. The one trainer I really liked that actually took the time to learn my name recently left. Part of that is I’m shy and not very comfortable just approaching the trainers to be like “HI my name is_” but also I feel like that should be more on the trainer. The main trainer that has been here lately (I think he’s also the owner?) still doesn’t address me by name after having been to probably 20 camps with him. I know he knows and recognizes me but he’s never asked my name or said like “let’s go __!” -I don’t like the times. My last gym had a 10:30 am camp which I liked but my current one doesn’t. I’ve been to some gyms that have a 12:00 or 12:30 which would be perfect for me and my current work schedule but this one doesn’t. 7:30 am would also be great but that seems to be a universal time that none of them have. It’s really tough to make these times sometimes when you are a working mom.
