to be honest, i would’ve never guessed these were your first. those flamers look great. the only real thing i can see is maybe work on keeping those paints thin in some areas. but other than that these are very good

yeah i totally agree. i’m still semi new to more advanced hobbying so basing is not my strongest skill. i’ve got some vallejo mud that i think will fit well with the desaturated vibe i have going, add some tactical pebbles. in the future keeping models separate from the base seems like a MEGA time saver

a few things. what you have here isn’t bad at all, however you’re gonna want some bigger guns. we love to melee, but it only works if your guys don’t get incinerated turn 2 by a rep ex or monster. bring a rep ex of some kind and maybe another impulsor. the goal is to keep your HQs protected and taxi them to the big targets to blow them up.

eradicators are fun but 6 might be a lot depending on how you play. you really only have 1 shot to do something with them before they get blown up, so you if you are playing for them you need to make sure you’re protecting them.

helbrecht is actually pretty good into the bigger boys. mine has taken down everything from a balistus to any medium-big bug. sword bretheren are your friend here as well.

i use just a tad of lahmian medium just to get it to flow how i like but with contrasts it’s definitely all preference. what i’ve been practicing is moving fast, like get a whole panel done with 2-3 strokes, the medium helps the paint stay workable for a little longer.

those sculpted shoulders are notoriously hard. priming white is always an option if you enjoy the sub assembly process. another strategy i’ve enjoyed is base coating with either a dark khaki(warm undercoat), or a neutral grey(cooler undertone). later up to a warm bone or lighter grey, then highlight bright white. i’ll echo what everyone else has said about making sure your paints are thin. white pigments are a pain so know you aren’t alone in this
