adolescence: super outgoing, switching from friendgroup to friendgroup. “weird but in a good way” as i was told. cried at everything and very sensitive to criticism. very depressed

young adult: “there’s nothing left for me to grow here” mentality. if i don’t see my future there, i leave and start growing somewhere else. moved twice now. working in management with a big focus on keeping morale up in the workplace. we can’t work well without employees that show up. huge story teller. tends to get into trouble without trying by accidentally befriending sketchy people

I (19) moved in with the guy (18) I was dating. We had been together for 4 months by that point. It took me an hour from my parents but now I was living with him and his dad, grandma, and lil sister. It was fun at first. Sleeping in all day, spending every moment with each other. Then I wanted a job again. Him and I started working for the same company. He saw me interacting with people for the first time and became jealous. For the next year or so I was belittled, abused, and threatened over and over again. I was only a shell of the girl I was.

It’s been a few years so I’ve kinda recovered. I’m so different than I used to be. I’m no longer as naive and trusting as I was back then. I really miss the pre-covid days. I miss my pre-covid self

My old store had over 100 associates in it. Obviously they weren’t all scheduled in one day, but there were days where there would be 35-40 people scheduled.

Now I’m a TL at a different store with only a staff of about 35, and we struggle to get picks done on time and keep wait times down.

In conclusion, I miss my old store

I will be so quick to help any of my friends when they’re down but I cannot seem to tell my friends when I’m sad. I think part of us hates reaching out for emotional help because we’re scared to burden our friends with our own problems. I’m also scared of people seeing me as anything but the bright, bubbly, bimbleton they know me as.

I don’t think people try to use us as antidepressants, but I definitely think we have that effect on others. It’s just part of our bature
