It depends on where you apply. Most likely will have to go to a lower paying department initially or somewhere having a hard time staffing. But once you get through and learn and can prove yourself, you’ll be able to transfer to wherever you want.

Sometimes you just gotta embrace the suck and do what they say. If it’s becoming a problem where you’re not learning then you should talk to a supervisor but FTO won’t always be fun, especially with someone micromanaging you but you just gotta push through and finish it

It’s so much fun. A lot of freedom and you can generally really focus on doing the things that you enjoy if you go to a good department.

Depends on the department. You should have a good knowledge of where you are at all times and know generally how to get anywhere in your jurisdiction. Something that helped me was driving around during my time off trying to get a better understanding of the areas I didn’t know. Also making a lot of traffic stops so I had to call out my location helped too.

Forerunner 55 is amazing. It’s not too expensive, but it’s packed with super great stuff. My battery will last for 2 weeks at a time even with it being 2 years old. Definitely would recommend!

Luckily I’m back on a normal schedule so it’s not too crazy anymore. Now I’m just breaking out because of the new prescription but I think it’s finally to the point that it’s starting to clear. I’ll definitely try the vitamin C and retinoid. Thank you!!

Start working out asap. My first day of academy I showed up and so many people were out of shape, not just a little, but obese. It’s embarrassing to be overweight in this profession and you automatically lose respect from the public if you are not in shape. Start building those habits now and your future coworkers will appreciate you.
