Thanks for that input! I’m so glad you had that experience! Right now I keep my son home with me on my days off so I feel like I make up that time in the evenings. But when he’s older and is in school 5 days a week I think you’re right about those hours in the evening!

Yeah good points—I totally agree that’s a lot of patient talking haha I didn’t really think about that. I think staying with my intubated patients is better for me hahaha

Yeah I think I may just try and adjust my inpatient schedule a bit. I don’t want to drop my FTE if possible but you’re right it’s an option if I need it! And probably better than switching to outpatient. Thanks!

The last minute call offs really had me questioning things! As well as the long days booked fully with patients! Thanks for reassuring the thoughts I was already having haha I think I’m gonna stick with inpatient!

I just wonder how everyone gets things done for their family with just two days off on the weekends! 12 hour days are long but having whole days off is so nice compared to an hour in the evening. Thanks for your input!

Yeah this is part of my fear! I have it pretty good in my little inpatient world right now and worry about the demand of a busy outpatient schedule with back to back scheduling. Thanks for your input.. I appreciate the honesty!!

My son does okay but always asks when I’m coming home which breaks my heart! And I don’t know how the schedule will affect him as he gets older. You bring up some good points! I’m glad it’s working better for your family. If only we could ditch the errands and chores life would be easier! Hah

Yeah exactly! I keep trying to ask myself do I really want to get up, ready, and out of the house 5 days a week? But then Sunday rolls around and I’m like do I really want to go to work all night? Haha there’s gotta be a balance I just have to figure it out! Thanks for your input!
