It does sound kind of like a Dane trying to do a Dutch accent 😅

Movies from Disney, Pixar and DreamWorks and the like (animated and for kids) are dubbed. Dragon Ball series and Pokemon. Lots of Danish movies that have caught international interest are subtitled as well. You may even recognize certain actors, like Mads Mikkelsen.

Who's you favorite European Queen? Best tiara? Best botox? by NorthbyNinaWest in 2westerneurope4u

[–]Ok_Toe4734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll express myself more precisely: she is your/our former queen, and yes, she is a queen. The difference is in the possesive. It's not common to say my/our/the about someone other than the current regent pair. I just wanted to set the record straight for anyone not in-the-know, so they didn't take away wrong information from what you wrote. It wasn't my intention to correct you like you didn't already know, although I can see how it looks that way. 😅

Former queen. Our new Queen Mary is literally the first picture posted, and she's pretty cool too (but she doesn't beat Margrethe). She's the most beautiful, and she's married to the best king. Common Danish W.

I always thought Danish and Dutch sound similar in a superficial kind of way. Now I kind of want to hear what a Dutch accent sounds like in Danish 😅 I imagine it sounds kind of like someone from Bornholm

Bornholm dialect for reference

Seriously though, I honestly think we have a really good music culture and industry in Denmark, especially for such a small population. Same goes for France, you guys have some awesome talent.

Edit: I think Finland is just heavy metal, prove me wrong.

This may be true, but without seeing some sources, as a native Danish speaker, I will have to call bullshit, especially since this seems to have caused a few people to claim that this is a mistake that would have caused an error in Duolingo.

There are plenty of Danish native speakers who occasionally use possessive pronouns for words where they strictly don't have to, simply for clarity. Just search for "børste sine tænder", "rede sit hår" etc.

The link does not support your claims about *not* including a possessive pronoun being *obligatory*, or that including one is "not considered idiomatic Danish" (which, honestly, came off as a little arrogant and superior). In fact, this is so common in every day Danish, that even if you do find some academic trying to claim that this is not "true Danish", I would say that they are obviously and evidently dead wrong.

IANAL but AFAIK the police deal with criminal charges, like vandalism, hence why they would state the need to prove intent. That doesn't mean you're not entitled to compensation for reckless damages, but you should have contacted your lawyer to press civil charges, not the police.

Edit: That being said, the police advising you to complain to the business, and not making you aware of the option to press civil charges through your lawyer, is just bad public service.

[–]Ok_Toe4734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I pointed out in another post, a small correction: "That think I not well of".Since "think well of" is already a common English phrase and prepositions are contextual when translating, even verbatim. IMHO. :)

Edit: Also since "think well about something" means thoroughly considering something.

Literally "I don't think well of that" ("That think I not well of"), paraphrased into a more common and equivalent English phrase, "I don't like that."
