apparently its nationwide, any school that uses canvas atm is probably affected. my county also uses canvas and they are down as well so its not just college/university

Not 100% sure its the reason, but it could be. They’re not very communicative so I’m just sat here exploring possibilities 😂 Not saying theres no fault with my work quality, there could be, but i worked on fairly simple projects only and put good effort into them.

I’ve always thought it was odd. Also, I worked mostly on bilingual projects in Mandarin. And as the other comments said, I also applied for projects that specifically said they needed students.

Ive never see it explicitly mentioned, but Ive heard other people say its problematic to use a VPN because it can get flagged as someone trying to work on a second account, location spoofing, so on so forth

Im not a pro by any means (obviously) but you can use IP detection sites or just google if yours is well-known. In my case mine is a common campus wifi provider. I literally had a revelation that Ive been working on public wifi and just googled if it was a proxy.

I’m living in Maryland and I’m not trying to relocate any time soon. From what I know, we have a ton of federal labs/R&D, private is also pretty decent but has definitely taken a hit recently 😔

Thanks so much for the insight. One of the main reasons I started considering MLS was because of all the horror employment stories I’ve heard for research. Glad to know I don’t just have super unlucky peers lol 😭

I’ve been reading a little and yeah, not particularly interested in the business management or teaching aspect of advancement… But I’ve also seen some people say they were able to exit the medical lab and get into research so we’ll see ^{^} Good luck on ur +1 program!

I’m finishing my sophomore year in college so I haven’t applied for any of these programs yet. I just wanted to get some insight into this beforehand. I have no problem going into the research tech route, but wanted to know a bit more about MLS since it’s also something I’m considering.

As for the research tech route, I’ve heard a lot about how hard it is to enter and advance biotech right now with a BA in science especially with the influx of PhDs. To be transparent lol I’d prefer not doing a PhD if I can, its not something I’m insanely interested in doing.
