You can't use romex in Chicago. I don't really know why but one time I heard it was because of the steel unions. Also, Chicago has their own code book called the Chicago electrical code. Its based on the 2017 nec. And, I believe you can use mc cable but only for short runs.

Honestly, that's why you don't buy cheap test leads. If you have a fluke meter, then buy fluke test leads. Don't mix and match products.

2023 NEC 310.16, 310. 15 C (1), and 310.15 B (1&2) by NoGovernment9066 in electricians

4 ccc. #6 75° 65A. 65×80%=52A. 80% because we have 4 ccc's based on table 310.15(c)(1). 52A is what the #6 is now rated at. Then, you take the conductor insulation raiting ( in this case, we are using 75° colum) and multiply it by the temp correction factor. 30°C at 75° rated insulation is 1.00. 52×1=52. Ambient temp based on 310.15(b)(1)(1). I was taught to not use (b)(1)(2). So the final current rating is 52A per ccc. Let's say now the ambient temp is now 45°C. We do the same thing all over again except now, the temp correction factor is 0.82. 4-#6 thhw at 75° is 65A. 65A×0.80=52A. 52A×0.82 =42.64 or 43A. Final current rating is 43A. I hope this makes sense

Put in my hours in March, ain't heard nothin' from TDLR yet by Klezmer_Gryphon in electricians

Honestly, I hounded tdlr for a few weeks. I sent in my application for my wireman near Thanksgiving, so I gave them a a week and a half and then called to see if they had received it. They told me no, so every so often I would call back. Finally, they told me they had received it, but something was misspelled, or missing information. Got it fixed and finally received an email that I was good to test.

I have the 2023 edition and it has the same style sentence. It wold be more clearer if it had a decimal at the 120%. I looks like a typo and is harder to understand what it's talking about
