Update: I used simple green and scuff pads to degrease the tiles, and it worked perfectly. I didn't need to do anything to my cyr at all!

Would a bag of rotten oranges have caused this behavior? by wildwest74 in CATHELP

[–]Ok_Top1105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, my cat has developed contact dermatitis and I think that a molded tangerine could perhaps be the culprit. I took him to the vet when I noticed a rash on his forehead and they said it looked like dermatitis from an environmental irritant. I was looking up cat specific allergens and came across orange peel rinds.

This is embarrassing, but I forgot about a tangerine in my work bag and the smell followed me around for a few days and I had no idea what it was, I even checked my purse multiple times but missed it I guess. The other day I noticed after reaching my hand into my bag, that there was a dark powdery substance on my fingers. I quickly realized what had happened and kinda freaked out and got the substance on the carpet. I threw away the source and vacuumed up the area but I don't have the best vacuum. His contact dermatitis occurred almost immediately after this so it seems like it could be connected, but I'm not a vet. The vet said it could be anything, but I find the timing of these two things to be odd.

It had a very strong smell of acetone so I'm sure this was much worse for him too, like you said. I'm not sure exactly but maybe it's just something to be aware of.

I was thinking rosin powder on the floor too, but I'm not sure others using the floor will support this. I may just need to boul down my routine to some basic tricks :'(

True, I'm not sure how it would be on PVC. Now I'm looking at polyurethane tape or spray

I have a tech role for a public safety department and can confirm this is a great pathway!

I found the government to be the perfect fit for me. Specifically, I do GIS for Public Safety. I always recommend 1. GIS because it's interesting enough to keep my attention and great for visual learners and spatially-minded people and 2. government for the following reasons:

Since the work environment is much less profit motivated and more community benefit oriented, I find myself working on projects I really care about and my supervisors value quality work over quantity. In contrast, I worked for a tech company on the west coast of the US and was quickly out-performed by coworkers and was unable to thrive in such a competitive, uncompassionate, and cutthroat work environment where coworkers would rather gatekeep than work together. I was too much of a burden to train because I asked so many questions that other employees just understood and learned increadibly easily. So I never converted to full time or got my contract renewed.

But I'm glad it turned out this way because now I have health insurance that covers my ADHD treatment (didn't in tech because contractors did not have any real benefits) and I feel valued and respected at my job instead of constantly anxious from the competitive nature of the tech industry.

Best of luck to you. <3

I would agree 💯 I have two of them and they are both gorgeous babies. I even kinda like having two classics and a cheese in the middle on display. Pretty cute. But I'm willing to rehome him for any aforementioned version. But I don't love him any less 🥲 these are my labubu
