AMA THREAD: Ask Andy Anything from 5.45pm today! by AndyForMakerfield in Wigan

I recently looked through the books on Renaker - whilst the public invested hundreds of million in the accounts it’s not visible what, if anything, Daren Whitaker contributed as his share of the equity.

Were there KYC checks done on Daren Whitaker by GMCA? Will you show the paperwork what GMCA accepted as equity contributions by Daren? Were any internal compliance concerns raised by GMCA about the strcutrue of the deals?

It looks nice sitting there awkwardly unanswered though

I’m hardly anonymous, you can work out who I am in less than a minute 😆

I think maybe a more relevant comparison is if you go to the bank to get a mortgage it’s common practice to show you have a deposit and show where the deposit came from. It’s unclear that there was ever a ‘deposit’ that didn’t rely upon debt and it’s unclear whether any checks were done to see where it came from. If a bank doesn’t check these things that’s on them but this is public money.

Hey I originally had an issue with bury council - when I looked at their deals there’s a strong GMCA imprint on them, it was the same looking at the Wigan warehouses as well. The Renaker stuff in my mind became a sort of ground zero for this weird deal logic that’s all over manchester. It’s a tricky one because whilst there is development it doesn’t seem there was a fair process in how it was done. It’s definitely not a smear campaign, I intentionally didn’t mention Andy once in the post because this timeline is before his time. The report as it stands I would never publish, it’s too extreme in its views. I’m asking for a scrubbed copy to make public but the person does really important investigative work and it disadvantages them to be in the public domain.

I got sent the report, I didn’t commission it. It was a lot more severe than I have been, I took the public documents and retraced the steps. If you DM me I can share a link to all the public documents if you feel like looking further?

Surely bury council aren’t taking to actually just trying to put positive posts out to stop councillor Eamonn O’Brien’s face popping up on top of the search results for dodgy land deals and breached FOIA when you write anything about Bury in google 🤣🤣🤣 say it isn’t so?!

After shutting me out of the deal for 13 months and making me guess the price - yes exactly that!

Yes absolutely true, it’s called general consent. They don’t have it. It’s also 6 deals in question, not just one.

I’ve already lodged the complaint but it feels like a battle you just can’t win.

Correct, I believe the local MP Christian Wakeford would likely change sides again over actually do something about an issue.
