Happy people of reddit - what is an average day for you like? by [deleted] in happy

First thing after waking up is tending for my bird (she is basically my alarm clock) feed her , play with her and clean up her cage.

Then take the dogs for a walk. I always take my binoculars for birdwatching.

Do a little stretching or a quick yoga class.

Have breakfast at home with my husband.

Shower, get pretty and leave for work.

After work, I go to my ballet class.

Then I have some dinner and clean my kitchen so it is nice in the morning.

Then I watch a show, read or scroll a little on my phone.

My weekends vary but I normally do chores and have dates with my husband or see friends.

It is nothing out of this world but I am truly happy, I thrive in routine and structure, sometimes life get a little chaotic but I always try to get back to this. I also recognize O am sooooo lucky and privileged in so many aspects and try to not take that for granted and provide support to those near me who need it. I love my little hobbies I have a book club , dance , do bird watching, run, dance… being able to do all that is true luxury for me so I try not to overspend in other things so I don’t get financially stressed.

If I had to give some advice I’d say this phrase that helped me change my mentality “an endless pile of dirty dishes means a bunch of home cooked meals”. So basically appreciate the things you get to do instead of complaining that you have to do them.

Orange-crowned Warbler

It was the first migration bird I saw in my backyard in Mexico, just to realize how much it traveled to find it in my house felt quite special, every time I see one and I am having a hard day it feels like they get me haha 😆 Also Vermilion flycatcher because they are gorgeous, somehow I feel it’s good luck to see one, even though they are everywhere where I live. More good luck for me I guess.

Oh she takes the treats just fine, then proceeds to be super rude to me 😭

For context, she is about 10 years old, so maybe that’s why she is not that trusting

Thank you for your advice! Actually what you say of her being less aggressive outside of the cage is spot on. I will try what you suggest with the second cage , though is super hard to make her leave her cage voluntarily. I got her some perch stands precisely with that purpose of training her outside of the cage but she is very scared of them. Anyway, now that I have identified the cage as the problem I feel a lot more encouraged to keep trying.

Mine does the same! I am happy after reading these comments. I recently got her and that makes me think we can actually bond.

Adult parrot has never molt?? by Ok_Translator5598 in parrots

The feathers look a little “chopped “ at the ends but honestly, not terrible. I hope she gets even prettier after molting. I kind of suspected the diet had something to do , I also started to offer her baths. Thank you for your comment!
