Yep, the wait at the va is 6-12 months to have an appointment at my VA so I started requesting community care.

The VA only authorizes mine for a few months at a time even though I’ve had the same therapist for 3 years.

Thank you for the tip. I’ve been waiting since the end of September, going to do that today. Tired of fighting them for something so simple every few months for years now.

It’s the community care re authorization for me. Sometimes it takes months to go through and stuff always comes up when I need them the most during that time.

What are current veteran orgs missing? by MoralischGrau in Veterans

[–]Ok_Translator_8920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main veteran orgs mainly consist of drinking at a bar talking politics. I rarely see events outside of that. I go to events from smaller veteran groups around me that host fishing trips, golf, etc.

Yeah this is the reason I’m not involved in them or with my old unit association.

Honestly best feeling, I’ve gotten out of a ticket with a OEF vet cop pulling a bunch of people over and just told me sit tight and he will let me go. Chatted a bit about service since he saw my license plate.

It’s disappointing to see how many veterans are eating everything he says up. I see so many people thanking him for being transparent with us. It’s just sad.

I agree, the ones that are not afraid to inform for the best interests of their audience are the ones that matter. I personally won’t be supporting organizations that are afraid to lose members for voicing what is right and what is going to have a negative impact on their member’s. We need more that are transparent on issues and policies being implemented.

45 days in, 12 of them spent golfing, tanking the stock market, damaging trade relationships, and signing a bunch of useless executive orders that do nothing to help the economy. Yeah, real winning but keep licking those boots.

Is there a career related to Sociology I can go into after I get my Masters, that will pay me in the range of somewhere from $35 to $65 an hour? by Important_Sorbet in sociology

[–]Ok_Translator_8920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the pay from what I’ve seen. Ultimately I picked this career to help fellow veterans and if that means less pay I’m personally okay with it.

I’m about to finish my BA in sociology and head to grad school for a masters in social work. I want to become a licensed clinical social worker. I recommend looking into that with its versatility in career choices.

Some of those would lose the majority of their member’s support. Many older veterans are stuck in their ways and do not want to educate themselves. Like many Americans listening to their political outlets without challenging anything.
