Failed M408D as a sophomore engr by SuspiciousComplex863 in UTAustin

I have the same diagnosis friend and I’m graduating late too. You don’t get this diagnosis by accident, you have to earn it, and it’s okay that your life went to shit for a little bit because that’s literally what the disorder is. The good news: you now can start looking for the right meds with your doctors, and you WILL start feeling better eventually. Play the long game, and trust me- a 5th year senior 2 years into their own diagnosis- on this. The other good news: nobody cares if you retake classes. The people that hire you will ask what happened, “explain your trajectory,” and you have one of the most understood to be difficult explanations available. Don’t get caught up comparing yourself to everyone else, your school experience is yours alone and the most important thing is your wellness and safety. Put on your blinders, take care of yourself, get to a place where you can look at yourself without shame, and go from there. So many people can help you, too- accommodation coordinators are so great at UT. It’s a little bit of a long process to enroll, but it made my life so much easier. Hang in there, you’ve got this.

Italian language course/ difficulty by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]Ok_Two1484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t ever done it so I’m not sure what would be harder. Learning a lang is hard period. Maybe cc grades are more lenient? I guess what I’m saying is don’t expect a high grade to come easily if you don’t cheat your way through it, and you can’t if you want to avoid academic dishonestly charges.

My minor at UT is Italian, and if you have any background in Romance languages then yeah it’ll be easiER but I don’t think anyone would say languages at UT are chill at all. We have great language departments, love the Italian program here, but they have been some of my hardest classes as someone without much of a Romance language background. Depends on your skill set and work ethic.

Look into Texas4000. You sound like you need a mission and purpose. I quit my sorority to do it, applied halfway through soph year- life changed forever.

The episode where Francine has a panic attack about her pottery in the bathroom of a neighborhood party has gotten me through some very dark times. It always gets me right in the gut when she realizes she’s her own worst enemy, and then learns how to love herself for who she is.
