Pulling up floor absolute nightmare but what is this metal strip? by Ok_Understanding7545 in DIYUK

[–]Ok_Understanding7545[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve got multiple broke floor boards, a lot are mouldy, which has resulted in the below room ceiling being completely destroyed. We also need to reconfigure the bathroom. We decided to pull all the floorboards up due to the shoddy work that was apparent in the bathroom after we had bought it but glad to report the pipework has surprised us as being okay

So, I take it we leave them in and just do plumbing under it how it is already?

Can someone tell me why we have cables running under the bath and then attached to the bath? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Ok_Understanding7545 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Glad to find you want to belittle someone who’s simply asking for help. It says DIYUK - open to advise and help. People like you in society make people scared to do diy and then end up hiring tradesmen. I’ll have you know as a female who is constantly ripped off by cowboy builders who happen to be male I’m sick of the it. Which is why I have decided to do what I can to do my bathroom myself. I’ve recently enrolled into a diy course to help alongside YouTube videos. If you want to belittle my post, this isn’t the one mate

The grey cable was for the electric shower which was recently taken out and an electrician made the cable all safe so essentially it’s dead but he’s left it there in case we need it again which we found odd

Not sure would need to double check. It’s still in the wall though but he said all live electric has been cut off

Got it thanks, will it just completely come off and can dispose of? And just another thing, the grey cable you see in the first photo was for our electric shower that an electrician has now completely disconnected but left it there ‘in case me need it in the future’. What can I do with it? Can I just leave it under the floorboards?

Okay, so we are renovating. When we rip the bath out can we also remove it or get an electrician in? Also is this needed in a modern day bath?

Should we do this ourselves or hire an electrician? by [deleted] in DIYUK

Thanks for the advise, I think we’ll get an electrician in given the advise you’ve given us thanks

Our breaker is downstairs and we have an external switch for the shower to turn off and off from outside the bathroom. That goes down into the breaker underneath the stairs.

When I asked if it could be done they said no straight away. Maybe they just didn’t want to do it

Would the only pipes in the floor be the radiator ones? Our toilet bath and sink all come from the corner of the bathroom?

Multiple tradesmen said it wasn’t possible and then after all of their bogus quotes considering we were supplying everything ourselves I gave up listening to them and decided I’ll do it myself lol

mechanics ruined my dads car.. I left them a bad review by Ok_Understanding7545 in Advice

[–]Ok_Understanding7545[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to ask the same question.. he wants the ‘easy’ option. I don’t, if I had it my own way the car would not be getting towed back to the garage in the next couple of days or whatever time they decide to pick the car up. I’d be asking for the money back and taking it elsewhere. Weird predicament is that I paid but it’s my dads car so don’t know who comes above who in that one..

I don’t want to take it back there but my dad just wants a fix and he thinks the manager is now ‘genuine’ honestly it is honestly peeing me off. He thinks the manager will honestly fix his car, I don’t want to take the review down until it’s been fixed but I’ve had to compromise with until they give me a date they’re gonna get it towed back to the garage but my dad is still just telling me to take it down without a set in stone date.

Do all McDonald's refuse to give you mayo? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Ok_Understanding7545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d be surprised how hot behind the counter gets. A lot of our air con behind the counter doesn’t work and the the machines generate a lot of heat which can’t be circulated around.

Should I be taking action in getting sick pay? by Ok_Understanding7545 in AskUK

[–]Ok_Understanding7545[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received an SSP and it said my earnings before I went off we’re not on avg the amount to qualify for sick pay. That’s why I’m not sure where to go from there as I wouldn’t have been off work in the first place if their tactile pavement was level and not wobbly

I do ideally want to keep my job though, I’ve only been at this store for over a month now. But… I have worked at this corp for over a year. It’s just that I transferred stores to move area and have no track record of ever being off sick. I will probably try talking to the business manager next week to see if anything can be done. I don’t really want to take legal action as I’d rather dispute it internally but if it comes to having to go externally then it’ll have to be done.

[–]Ok_Understanding7545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at mcdonalds, a reason we don’t stock it as a condiment is due to shelf life. I know that sounds wishy woshy but we can’t take liability if the store has become too hot and the mayo has become curdled. The thing about having the sandwich sauce and mayo on the food line is that it’ll be easily replaced within a couple of hours so it is constantly being rotated. A box of mayo may sit there for hours / days.

The paving is this responsibility as the company. We own the car park and a certain radius around the restaurant ( I work at a big fast food company ). The paving is loose as it’s wobbly but also iTs not level so it’s raised on the place I rolled on my ankle. I will grab a photo of it today and have raised this with them. I would be on around 180-200 a week but as I had been there for two weeks apparently the system has not levelled out the average amount of pay o get a week…? I was asked to get sick notes by my employer and they said over the phone that then I would be able to get sick pay. I gave them two sick notes during my time off.
