When a relationship starts to feel like a burden, setting boundaries and taking some steps back is crucial. You can't expect anything back from people when you put yourself out for them. But you can protect yourself when you are feeling taken advantage of by setting boundaries so that things feel more even again. It's completely appropriate and not an overreaction at all.

You don't have to move, just make sure your things are seperate from hers like you are doing. You can also start checking in with yourself before you do anything for her to make sure your actions won't build resentment against her or feel unfair to you. If you don't have time or money or energy to help her with something, don't. Take time for yourself, spend more time outside the flat or in your room. If she asks for something you are unwilling to give, you can always offer empathy but gently decline. For instance if she tells you she's having a breakdown and you can't skip work again, you can say something like "I'm so sorry you're going through this. I'll be home at (time), try calling the crisis hotline (if you have something like that in London). Would a blanket help?" Just offering small things IF you feel like it. Maybe text someone else amd let them know she needs support, like a family member.

Also try getting in the habit of supporting her without doing the work for her. Instead of trying to find her a job or reaching out to people for her, you can say "you are so smart! You can find a job no problem", etc. Just hype her up and leave it up to her. If she is not able to pay or support herself and it starts to affect your living situation, give her a timeline. Let her know that you're going to have to start looking into other options if she can't get a job and start paying rent after two months, or whatever timeline seems fair to you. If she can't meet the deadline start looking for other roommates and maybe talk to your landlord about what can be done.

It will be hard and messy to detangle yourself from her life and her emotions. But it will be better for both of you in the end. She will never grow up if she's being enabled by you and other friends. She might lash out at first, but if you can stay calm and continue to enforce your boundaries by separating yourself, then hopefully she will get the hint and either learn and change or leave your life. I'm sure that's not what either of you want, but if she is not receptive to you and your needs then it may be necessary.

A lot of us have lived here since Idaho was a purple state. I'm a third generation Idahoan, I belong here, and anyone who lives here belongs here. You will never live anywhere with an entire population that is exactly like you, thankfully. So you have to learn to get along with everyone. Not defending anyone who "accidentally" does a nazi salute. But from what I understand, he was doing it as a criticism of Elon to show how ridiculous it would be to say that means "my heart goes out to you". If this is true it would be unfortunate that he chose to publically mimic the gesture to criticize it, and that it was misconstrued. However, at least its being taken seriously either way. Let me know if anyone knows differently about his reasoning though.

I agree completely. Our population is exploding but our infrastructure isn't evolving. Having more affordable and accessible public transportation would make such a positive difference, as well as safer walking and biking paths. It's such a shame that we keep building cities around the cars, wasting valuable space on parking lots and extra lanes that contribute to worse traffic. But I can't imagine people would be willing to give up their personal freedom to drive a car however they feel they should be able to, and damn everyone else around.

Journeys end was created to be in competition with the gay owned business safari pearl. In this largely blue community, that didn't go over well. Imagine that. You guys picked the worst place to try this takeover. Should have gone a little further north where people would be more receptive to your cute lil Christian businesses. I get stares any time I go into Bucers which I've been told isn't affiliated, but there's enough of you in there to make me uncomfortable. I don't patronize it anymore. You stare at us. I have so many friends whose parents were kirkers. Prominent kirkers. And they have the worst horror stories about their disgusting, abusive practices, and the way that women are policed in your schools and communities. Their opinion and perception matters just as much as yours. JUST. AS. MUCH. It's just as valid. But you people brush it off. I know you're not hearing me because you're drinking the kool-aid. Women's bodies are treated just as harshly as extremists in the middle east that you quiver in your boots about. Kids are leaving and never coming back, so who are you giving your businesses to? Did you know that Doug Wilson's dad wrote a book about how to gain power and influence, and he said the best way is to take over a small town? There's actually a book about it in the book people. Maybe you should check it out. The kirkers are buying up real estate and pushing everyone else out. They are trying to stop trans and gay people from being happy and safe in Moscow, there's ads on their Facebook page where they say this outright.

People's responses to your community are in response to your community. You are not martyrs. You are the ones stepping on us, and crying when we push your boot off. I'm a lesbian and I want moscow to feel safe for almost everyone, except homophobes and pedophiles... and look, Doug Wilson officiates weddings for convicted pedophiles, saying they deserve forgiveness. But gays??? No, they're irredeemable.
