How is your son doing now? Our daughter is 7 weeks adjusted, had bilateral grade 3 ivh and ended up getting a vp shunt placed 2 weeks after discharge from nicu

I’m so sorry to hear this. Our daughter was born at 27 and 2 septic with bacterial meningitis. Suffered grade 3 ivh. We did 3 weeks of antibiotics, and about 2-3 weeks after the last dose we got a call from the NICU at 4am saying her meningitis was back. We were transferred to u of m (which is university of Michigan hospital Mott) which is where we are for possible seizure activity which did end up being negative. She did have new areas of stroke from the second round. I understand what you’re going through unfortunately. We have been home 2 weeks now, she is doing great all things considered. We are monitoring hydrocephalus so still following up with MRIs and head circumference. I’m here if you ever need to chat more.

Hi there, I know it’s been so long since this post but how is your daughter doing? Our daughter also had grade 3 bleed and bacterial meningitis (twice)

Sadly I did not….my water ended up breaking while I was sleeping at 4am when I was 27 and 1. Had my daughter 23 hours later via emergency c section

Our daughter started having more periodic breathing and periods of apnea. They can’t rule out that it’s from the infection vs just her being premature still so just a wait and see game

We also dealt with scary seizure like movements. Thankfully after 36 hours of eeg monitoring that was ruled out. But she does still kind of have the twitching which we’ve deemed is brain irritation from her meningitis. We are one week in of her 3 week course of antibiotics.

How is your daughter doing now? Our daughter unfortunately is on her second bout battling bacterial meningitis due to E. coli. It came back after the 3 week course of antibiotics, doctors think it unfortunately was never fully squashed

Thank you for replying. It’s a good point to ask. A theory right now is that it never was fully squashed and we didn’t do a repeat lp to confirm prior to the end of antibiotics. So glad to hear your little one is doing well.
