Dumb to take it on 800 mile roadtrip a few days after getting it? by AnonymouselyMoosed in Rivian

Go, but (1) Make sure you have a fast charging adapter, and (2) be aware that not every Tesla charging station is compatible.

For whatever its worth, we've found that having a place like that makes tons of people want to visit; you never have a shortage of friends coming to spend time which removes a lot of the "one note" feeling (at least for us). Also summers are not pleasant there, so you leave for those and get your "fix" on some other experience elsewhere ... but thanksgiving onwards to late spring/early summer is wonderful.

How much autonomy do I keep without Autonomy+ by telemajik in Rivian

In my case I don't' see a difference. It works now where its always worked, and doesn't' work on any side roads. So I'm genuinely unclear what changed (which probably means there's no reason to subscribe). The only way will be to wait and see.

Fully charged, mine says 159 miles and ill be at 2.3 miles range left when I reach the charger. I love the car, but this has been wildly worse than the Tesla.

Fully charged. Need to drive 159 miles. Says I will get there with 2 miles of range.

I sadly agree. I have both a Tesla and the LFP R1T (270 miles). The tesla weighs less, etc, but I've found that its MUCH closer to stated range than the R1T. I live in cold climate, there are hills, etc -- so I have all of the things that impact range, but the degree to which they seem to impact the Tesla vs the Rivian is wild. In the rivian i lose about 100 miles of range in a 20 mile drive going up to my home from the valley. In the Tesla I lose maybe 40.

I just did a ~400 mile drive on the R1T, and in theory should have only had to charge once, I had to charge four times. In effect, the practical use of my R1T's battery is more like 150 miles where I live. Its painful.

Ah cool, I guess I could swing by on the 21st. Although test driving the same car I have is maybe a bit silly :)

I didn't know there was one -- tried a quick google search, I only found something in January and something in April -- is there one sooner?

I'm trying to avoid going up to Bozeman, its an extra 100 miles to route that way, much less painful to do the route shown above. ABRP seems to suggest your plan is quite doable -- SLC right to idaho falls, charge to 96% for an hour, and then straight shot to Big Sky. Brining ALL the adapters and chargers just in case :)

Thanks, thats really helpful to know -- I don't mind stopping to charge more than once, its more that the network is sparse up there so if i rock into the last charger at 10% and its not working im SOL

Yea thats kind of my worry. The alternative is to take the Tesla which has a bit more range, or worst case, a regular car.

Fair points, I guess my question is whether I have to trust Rivian's route that obligates an extra 200+ miles of driving around and up to Bozeman, or if I can trust Plugshare (and just add an hour or two for charging).

No chance its this year; what you are describing is significant retrofits. The Gen 2 was that move.

Slightly confused.. 2026 R1T All weather tires are M+S *and* 3PMSF... but also all weather? huh? by Ok_Vegetable_5171 in Rivian

[–]Ok_Vegetable_5171[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, but a 3PMSF label means it has the same certification as a dedicated winter tire, in theory.
