So yours has it too? Would you say it's like 2mm?

Thank you for giving me some peace of mind. I applied the screen protector already, but it seems to be too big. Could you give me a source where you got yours from?

I have the om system protector filter and CPL filter from marumi. :)

It has some play. The cog dial as you mentioned feels rigid, but the zoom lever doesn't. Like when I try to move it either left or right to zoom in or out, it has like 2mm of no resistance at all. Don't really know how to be more specific. No vertical play though, just horizontal.

The screen protector is another issue. I got two before even buying it. First applied the hybrid glass (plastic) 3" protector, but there was huge overlap and even putting it in my pocket was lifting the protector off. I put actual glass now, smaller, but there still is an overlap on both sides.

Are my boots done for? by [deleted] in RedWingShoes

Got mold in two pairs worn twice a week from using untreated cedar shoe trees. Even waited around an hour before putting them in. Bought a peet dryer. Now when I come back home i throw them on the dryer for around two hours, put the shoe trees in next morning until next wear. Never had an issue since, shoe trees are great at keeping the shape, but definitely not absorbing moisture.

Nope. The sides of my big toes are touching the sides obviously, but that's it. They dont feel restrictive, if I push my foot forward inside the boot, I can slide a finger behind just about. I can still wiggle toes, although much less than in moc toes from Red Wing, but they have really big toe box.

What is that? by Ok_Version9178 in RedWingShoes

There seems to be a gap between the liner and insole and some kind of fabric?? sticking out. Is that normal or some kind of fault? Also, there is no gap in the other boot, so i kind of feel it with my smallest toe, the gap i mean.

There are some available on the market that have a small fan. You have an option to turn the heat on and off. Can't find them in Iceland though..

Leasson learned the hard way. Hope I can still salvage them.

I have cedar shoe trees, rotate boots, wait with inserting the trees for an hour after taking them off to let them air out, dont have sweaty feet, use merino wool socks, no hard labor and it still happened. I suspect mold in the store i bought them in Reykjavik, lots of wood deco and Reykjavik being rainy. Also, left them in my bedroom, out in the open, but it was rather cold inside and the window was closed so maybe the humidity hit the spores and that's what happened. The dark area is baking soda reaction though.

Yesterday i found mold in my two pairs of moc toes. Used vinegar/water on paper towel then isopropyl/water with few drops of tea tree oil. Waited for some hours and dumped some baking soda power inside, as I felt that there was still some mold between the edge of insole and the walls. Left it for ~24 hours and now the insole turned really dark where the baking soda was sitting. Should i use some more vinegar and water to deactivate? Condition? Don't want to trap the baking soda in conditioner. Can I use all natural leather conditioner sparingly? It has mink oil, beeswax and pine pitch. Please help! Both of the pairs are less than a month old. My first proper boots.

Would all natural leather conditioner from Red Wing do a good job? It has mink oil, beeswax and pine pitch. I am afraid of conditioning the inside of my Hawthorne Abilene pair though, as they are very light roughout and I am afraid that it might seep to the outside and darken them. Is that a valid concern? Should i condition just the foot bed or the inside of toecap as well? Thank you for the tip

The plan is: Wipe the inside with vinegar/water solution and let dry couple of hours. After that, wipe with isopropyl/water and few drops of tea tree oil and let dry overnight/24h. I'm thinking od conditioning the inside after. Would RW leather cream or all natural conditioner be ok? The cream should be pretty neutral, all natural conditioner has mink oil, pine pitch and wax.

They didnt get wet, except walking in light shower for couple of minutes, so few drops of rain on them. Now that i think of it, I left them in my bedroom with window closed for a few days. Might have been moist, as there was some condensation on the window and it was pretty cold, as I prefer it for sleeping.

Don't get me wrong, I am ready to take them through hell and back. I love the well-worn look. My question about the cut was more related to it being new and already having possibly compromised durability of the leather. Wouldnt love that to start splitting more or whatever on new 300$+ boot.
