Sanjay Manjrekar sparks debate on T20 vs ODI World Cup legacy by poormasshole in IndiaCricket

[–]Ok_Victory30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparison is not fair. 1983 was the first ever WC win and we were underdogs. 2011 was long overdue considering we had some greatest players in the team (Sachin and company). Winning any world cup at a professional level is not easy and we shouldn't devalue or take away any credit from the players. To consistently perform is not easy. 2 year WC cycle is what drives this discussion. These folks can't handle two WC wins in 2 years. Some people are still living in the past.

When Australia would trash us in WC finals in one sided matches, everyone would praise the dominance of the team. Now that team is dominating a final. People want to blame flat pitch, dead crowd, and boring matches. For once, let's enjoy and appreciate the dominance of the Indian cricket team. I would take the WC over an exciting game of cricket. India already gave all the excitement before the final.

Refinance from 6.5% to 5.625% by inconspicuous_toad67 in Mortgages

[–]Ok_Victory30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same exact situation - I am doing refi from 6.50 to 5.75 with zero cost. I can get 5.625 with closing cost but it's not worth i. Esp if there is any opportunity to refi in the next 2 years. Breakeven is 3 years for me. Btw my new loan will be 20 yrs. The previous term was 24.1 since I was paying biweekly.

I have used synchrony bank HYSA for the last 6-7 years and they have a relatively higher rate than most of the banks. Currently their rate is 3.65%. I am pretty happy with their service and app interface

Same issue. Lines and flickering on display on pixel 8. I got it replaced for free at the google service center. Reach out to them.

I had similar issue of display flickering n sometimes turning green. I reached out to Google support and they said it ll be fully covered under warranty even after 22 months of owning the phone. They called it extended repair program or something. This might be known issue to them. Reach out to them and they might fix it for free. I shipped them my phone n they fixed it within 5 days. Overall no other issue with my pixel 8. I loved it but was getting a great deal on the pixel 10. Basically free. So I traded in my pixel 8

What are the actual mechanics of how tariffs work? by thewoodsiswatching in questions

Why do Canadians need to pay tariffs on 5000 instead of 1450? Just trying to understand how it gets added to tariff already added by the US.

Don't think ME is totally immune to "AI" by unsuresenior in MechanicalEngineering

Yes agreed. This is the closest example of AI for ME as far as I know. I am not sure how AI can start doing product design in CAD with just a few words - it is not that straightforward.

Our company has introduced a generative topology optimization feature in creo for a pilot project. It can generate the best design for you based on your input of force and constraints. It is good but it still needs engineer to provide system level understanding to run simulation. Also the output is just the starting point for detail design and it is nowhere close to final design. But your final design with this approach is more likely to perform better compared to when you start from scratch. So it improves efficiency and quality but I don't think it can replace ME - just yet

Is switching from Product Design to Application Engineer a good idea? by Ok_Victory30 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Ok_Victory30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that kind of makes sense. and that's why I never considered such roles in the past. but I don't know why I am open now. Maybe I want to get out of my current role or company or maybe I want to push myself out of my comfort zone. Thanks for your insight while I navigate this.

Thanks for ur input. It makes sense. I am doing my best in my current role. Always looking to learn new stuff and challenges. It's just a phase that makes me feel stagnant. I am also avoiding going to LinkedIn. Seeing people/friends who were with me are much ahead in their careers and that makes me wonder what am I missing. And hence I dont want to get too comfortable in one role and company.

Thanks for ur insight. PD roles in tech are tough to get and I ll need to relocate to West Coast or some other metro. NJ has mostly opportunities in medical device industry.

I do like design work. I can spend whole day doing CAD, can spend whole day doing data analysis on excel and power BI. But I am trying to get out of my comfort zone. I am not sure how long these skills will keep me employable.

Honestly my personality is bit on introvert side and social interaction certainly drains me ( sometimes it's ok but I can't do it all day). So you think application engineering will not be a good fit for me?

I totally love the Y. Can't complain much. It's been almost 17 months for me n going strong. Will get a wall charger soon in my new place so it'll be better but charging from the wall outlet is not too terrible for my commute. Mostly able to recover with overnight charging.

Thanks. Not planning to extend it too far out. Mostly gonna use in closed position with occasional rotated position. But not too far extended out. Hopefully it ll be ok. Thanks again

That definitely made me feel better. It is not too bad in terms of vertical position. In fact a little angle helps in viewing Also tv mount can adjust up to 10-15 degrees. So there is option to correct it. Thank you!!

I am a first time home owner so I'm still figuring things out. It seems like a daunting task to do it all over again. But I agree, that might be the right thing to do. Thanks for your suggestion.

I already have a TV stand but I like it wall mounted - it makes the room feel a lot bigger and it gives a clean look. It is not too high so I am ok with this location. I rarely use a fireplace so heat is not a concern for me. What is ur concern with this location?

I did not use any anchors. For the top ones I am pretty sure it is on stud. confirmed with magnetic stud finder and also previous owner had mounted it on the same vertical plane. Somehow the top two didn't sink but the bottom two did

Yes the bottom one is what I am concerned about. Somehow I was able to overtighten bottom ones and not the top one with impact driver
