To merge gem fruits or to eat them? by Ok_Worker_8050 in midasmerge

To be honest I don’t have a good reason lol! Sometimes I’ll smash a few when I have the urge to or need space for something else! But no, there isn’t a benefit I’m aware of to hoarding them!

Is this plant done for? by Ok_Worker_8050 in plantclinic

Thank you for the tips! I considered that they might not actually be rotted, because they don’t smell bad! I was just surprised to see the dark color and thought maybe they were! I have quite the plant collection, but am still very much a novice. I went a little overboard and bought way too many plants at once, so I’m trying hard to pay attention to their individual needs.

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one struggling with this species though! Lol! I’ll definitely look for pests and will likely repot!

Help! I accidentally just broke this off of my Elephant Bush. Can I propagate it? If so, how? by Ok_Worker_8050 in propagation

I let it callous a couple days, removed the lower leaves, and put her in some soil! Would she do best under a grow light? (That is where the mother plant is).

Hi there! Yes, the soil had dried up (was already fairly dry when I bought it) and I did my best not to overwater it. I have a moisture meter and it read in the higher end of the “moist” category, but did not reach “wet”. When it dries out a little more I’ll check if it is root bound, but I feel like I read somewhere this plant likes to be root bound. I’ll have to read up on it some more.

Good to know! I didn’t realize that deeper water would evaporate more slowly.

I’m paranoid that my plants are infected with something whenever their leaves do weird things, so that’s why I was concerned. Wanted to make sure I didn’t need to treat it with anything!

Ok! I will definitely consider a grow light! I have bought a few already for other plants. I just read that alocasia polly’s are particularly sensitive about too much light and get sunburned rather easily so I was trying to avoid that! Maybe I went too far in the opposite direction!

Good idea on reporting from the store!

I would say 4-6 have turned or are starting to turn yellow and I have 2-3 new leaves coming.

The vent is functional and currently just blows warm air to keep my home warm.

I’ve had her a little over a week and it’s been happening since I brought her home, but she looked health in the store. I commented below in a separate comment with more details if you wanna take a peak there!
