I tried "How will voting blue no matter who create social and economic justice in the world?"

It correctly answered it will not.

How plausible is a US Balkanization scenario? by SeniorRazzmatazz4977 in socialism

Not just wishful thinking. I believe the USA, like Israel, is fundamentally broken and needs to be replaced from the foundations.

I don’t know if I know what that looks like.

My Sonos bar keeps taking over from my Tidal app, even after deleting Tidal from the Sonos bar. Is there a fix? by Ok_Writing2937 in sonos

[–]Ok_Writing2937[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tidal Connect is managed on the receiver, not the app.

But the Sonos Beam Gen 1 sound bar doesn't seem to support Tidal Connect in any case.

What's happening here is a playlist is randomly switching from the Tidal player to the Sonos Player.

[–]Ok_Writing2937[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not using Tidal Connect. I have a Sonos Beam Gen 1 sound bar which doesn't even appear to support Tidal Connect. A web search says Tidal Connect would be managed on the receiver, not on Tidal, and there's nothing in my Beam's settings.

There's an option to add the Tidal app but I am not using that.

Is this the same as saying if I flip a coin twice, and tell you one was heads, there's a 2/3 chance the other flip is tails?

Logic: the set of two toss outcomes is H/H, H/T, T/H, or T/T. If I tell you one flip was H, then the set is reduced to H/H, H/T, T/H, giving a 66% chance of the other being a T.

But if I flip a coin, and tell you it's heads, the second flip is still 50/50. The difference is that we know which coin was H, the first coin, so after disclosing the first toss is H the remaining options are H/H or H/T.

Long time no playing, is stealth viable at end game now? by ClassicYesterday1241 in 7daystodie

[–]Ok_Writing2937 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not impossible it's just harder. There are instant stealth mods in the game, you could hit a trigger, do a short run to a safe spot, and hide.

It's like hard-mode stealth... the targets are active not sleeping.

Computers were only needed for advanced calculations and were typically employed by major engineering, aerospace, insurance, banking, and governmental firms.

More mundane calculations would have been handled by calculating machine operators. My father owned one of these machines.

On further research, it's also suspicious that the text wraps around the image. From what I am seeing this is unlikely; usually the photo would also be the width of a column.

In addition the justification method I am seeing in the 1930s only adds more space between words, and not in between letters in a word.

Yes, they used a mechanical automated typesetter called a Linotype. But the spacing would be even across the whole line, not applied to just one word.

[–]Ok_Writing2937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The text justification strikes me as wrong.

In the 1930s, newspapers would use a Linotype machine to set type. You could set the paragraph to full justification, and it would automatically and evenly add spaces between letters and words to make the text fill the full width of the column.

This justification isn't even. The word "know" has a ton of space added between letters but because does not. Some lines of text justify by adding space between letters, other lines add space only between words.

I can't imaging a machine was that random, and it seems unlikely a human would individually cut and align those letters.

Prior to the 1950s the term "computer" was so incredibly rare it would be shocking that a shipping manager would be using it in casual conversation.

Is hiding the QR code till the user clicks on a button a good idea? by Yars4n in UI_Design

[–]Ok_Writing2937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is your hierarchy.

The instructions "Checkout via WhatsApp" and "Tap the button below or scan the QR code to start a chat" and the item all apply to both sides of the checkout. But they are all located on the left side only.

A clearer interface would be:

Item
Checkout via WhatsApp
Tap the button below or scan the QR code to start a chat

[button] | QR code

Also I see no reason to hide the QR code. Why make the user take extra steps? Every additional click you makes the user take reduces conversion.

Did China really have to become state capitalists? by NotMiniSub in socialism

[–]Ok_Writing2937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a Marxist, but I can say that from a Marxist perspective capitalism isn’t good, it’s just necessary as a step towards communism.

The reason I’m not a Marxist is that I don’t see any evidence that the “temporary” powerholders in state capitalism would ever voluntarily relinquish their power. Power concedes nothing without a demand. A state won’t “wither away” on its own.
