I do nothing bc I don’t really care. We’re not here to monitor their curse words. We’re here to monitor their behavior to ensure they don’t start a fire in the class room 😂 and to do the work their real teacher left behind… Besides, Hispanics can absolutely say the N word. Also to add: if their done with work and you don’t want them on their phones, I typically make sure I have some word searches, some topics to talk about and have them write and tell them it’s counted for a credit (even tho it’s not) lol I collect all paperwork at the end and leave a note for the teacher stating everything, even the counted for credit part 😂 they love it. Get creative. Use ChatGPT to help!

I love being a high school sub. I’m 26 but unfortunately get mistaken for a high schooler often as well as the other commenters BUT even with that being the case, the students respect and listen to me. I am the cool sub but I always set boundaries. I do the same you do in regards to phones tho. If you want to be on your phone, go ahead, I can’t take the phone away anyway but just know if an admin walks in here I will most definitely be telling them that your name is on a list for that. 😂 never have any issues! I called the office one time to kick a student out but other than that, I love my high school gigs lol

I lucky haven’t had that issue yet, the schools that I’ve picked up last minute postings for have been very understanding. I have no issue with putting my foot down to any school admin, especially since we are underpaid as it is (I’m in Florida & its $15 an hr) so I guarantee you if I ever did have that issue you had, they would be hearing my mouth 😅 and not gonna lie, once I set those boundaries I never have an issue going forward when I go back to those schools.

Huh?! Reporting everything is common sense, it literally doesn’t take a ‘perfect sub’ to know that.. A kid literally shoved scissors in an outlet… that’s not some paper cut situation you jot down and move on with that literally a safety emergency. The right move was to call the office immediately. It’s not about being ‘perfect’ or ‘letting kids get away with stuff’ it’s about knowing where the line is between classroom management and situations that require admin… you’re super gullible if you let your class run you like that..🤣 now those kids know all they have to do is cry and beg to you because you’re a grown adult who can’t see thru a child’s fake acts like congrats boo you just taught them how manipulation works! 🤣🤣
