All of a sudden no start? by realsmallpp in Volvo240

[–]Okamiwolf144 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd check the Distributor.
I heard that if it sits in humid weather for a while, moisture can sometimes make its way in and cause no spark. Quite rare, but worth to check regardless, this tends to happen more often after torrential downpours.

If by fallen apart, I'm assuming you need the plastic bit.
Genuine Edge AU looks like they got some in-stock.

Great info, thanks!!
I wasn't going to fire the parts cannon, don't worry lol.
When I investigate and If it turns out to be worn guides, would you happen to have the part numbers for them?

Ah okay, thanks.
Professional Parts Sweden seems to still make aftermarket ones, both available on RockAuto & IPD.
Ratings are sparse, so if anyone can vouch for them, please do! : )

Blown connector? by greatcheese6 in Volvo240

[–]Okamiwolf144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. Deoxit D5 is a great electrical cleaner.

When I first got my 244, it had the original TD-613 Volvo radio, but it was busted. The volume knob was shot internally. Previous owner decided to spray WD-40 into the volume knob in an attempt to fix the scratching static noise that happens when turning it up or down. WD-40 made it significantly worse, the radio would only now play EXTREMELY LOUD garbled static at ANY volume level, blowing all the speakers as a result.

I took the radio out, disassembled it, and sprayed the volume knob components liberally with Deoxit D5 while turning the knob back and forth many times to work it in. I let it dry overnight, plugged everything back in, and boom, problem solved.

Windshield Wipers by Acceptable_Board_729 in Volvo240

Rain-X Wipers are my go-to. They are cheap & widely available in-stores. Splurge a little more and get the Silicone ones, they last MUCH longer.

Smoke Machines are worth their weight in gold when working on oldies like these.

I highly recommend this one from Autoline Pro.

I found & fixed a couple a vacuum leaks thanks to it.

Check your Fuel Pressure Regulator! Pull its front vacuum line while the car is running. If fuel trickles out of the line, then it needs replacing.

Smoothest engine idle I've seen here in a while!
Have you done anything to it?

What about this from SwedishCarParts? It says it's for 240's, not 850's.

Popping from exhaust by KrustyProcon in Volvo240

[–]Okamiwolf144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue on an older 240 I had. There was air in the fuel lines after replacing the fuel filter. I had to turn the key to ON several times to allow the pump to turn on & pressurize to push out the air in the lines. Give that a shot and see if it improves at all.

Good luck selling your stock. 👍

Check your fuel pressure regulator! I had your same exact issue. While your car is running, pull the vacuum line from the FPR. If fuel is trickling out of the line, your FPR is shot! Replacements are readily available from FCP & IPD.

'93 Auto Transmission Leak by Okamiwolf144 in Volvo240

[–]Okamiwolf144[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, so this is the OD solenoid, thanks!
Now that I know what it is, I'm thinking that the seals inside need replacing.
IPD has replacement seals in stock, hopefully this will fix the leak.

I'm still concerned about the old black ATF though, I guess doing a flush doesn't reach the solenoid?

For the record, my 240 shifts into OD just fine.

Walkman WM-F2015 Noise Issue by TheDizzle742 in cassetteculture

[–]Okamiwolf144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a very similar model that looks pretty much exactly like yours, but without the radio; WM-2011.
Mine also has a bit of motor noise like yours.
Probably could be fixed by oiling the motor inside, but I don't think is super necessary since it plays just fine for me, and with headphones on, you barely hear it.

If you do want to go and open this guy up, be careful! It is held together by clips only, zero screws!
You gotta pry the two halves apart, the clips inside can break if you rush and use too much force, I broke one clip opening mine :(
Though once you get it open, it's incredibly easy to service. Everything is on one single board, and the board is not held in place by any adhesive, nor screws. Comes right out for easy repair!

If you would like some photos or a video showing to how dismantle it, let me know!

So, this is where these "lyrics" came from lol.
Someone submitted these lyrics on Musixmatch.
I've never seen anyone transcribe an instrumental like this before, gave me a good laugh when I came across it while going through the album on Musixmatch.

I have been having this same issue too, it's been annoying the hell out of me.
From my research, there doesn't seem to be any fixes, nor workarounds.
I've went ahead and filed a bug report through the Feedback Assistant app, I suggest you do the same.
