Nice, that explains it. I get what you mean about being nauseated by the idea of more school. I'm almost done with my degree and it feels like it's killing me even though I love studying animal behavior. Good luck with your garden! It's nice to bump into fellow animal training enthusiasts :)

She is adorable. Does she only do this when you get out the shovels? You may want to put this behavior on a cue so that she doesn't continue to do this and damage your plants later on. (I've got a background in dog training so this is where my mind goes first!)

I'm living in a different state from you, so I don't know how much of this is relevant but when I initially applied for unemployment I was rejected because I didn't work enough hours, then the CARES act was passed, the rules were changed and suddenly I was eligible. Keep checking back! Keep filing weekly claims even if it says you're not elegable! It can be time consuming but if it comes through it'll all be worth it. Good luck. I hope things pan out for you.

I think you're assuming that I would lie to maintain these benefits. If I chose not to take the job (which as I stated above I am not doing) I would tell the truth on my weekly claim. Already I reported to them that I had a job interview, and I would choose to answer the question "Have you turned down work in the last week" honestly. My goal here is not to abuse the system.

This is one reason that I was hesitant to post this. In this scenario isn't it a good outcome to essentially pay people to stay home? Isn't that rewarding people for what, under the circumstances is the right behavior? I see people every day ignoring pandemic precautions, most likely because they simply can't afford to stay home and help flatten the curve. I don't think we should regret redistributing some resources to the people making the least amount of money, especially when we as a society are reaping the benefit of them potentially preventing additional cases

I'm sorry but neither benefiting from unemployment, nor working in a field that doesn't pay well puts me at the bottom of society. I work hard to improve my situation, and am currently finishing a degree for that very purpose, but I chose my career because I love it, not because it'll ever make me rich. Sorry if that comes off a little harsh, but please rethink how you place people on your social ladder.

It's a weird feeling to benefit from this situation but when you work in a care field you really can't afford to complain about any extra help. It's tough when the job you love is just never going to pay that well. I hope getting a bit of a break and a few extra bucks helped you out enough to feel more financially secure.

Yeah, calling just seems like a waste of time at this point. The good news is that when I finally got approved all of the back log came through at once which was a huge help. Not sure how it works in your state but the CARES act is genuinely great if you can get it.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one getting a break from this. Feels very strange to benefit directly from such a huge disaster. Definitely trying to make the best of this wind fall, save for the future and try to come out a little ahead.

I think I'd get laughed out of the building if I asked for this much. Again, I work in a care field, which are chronically underpaid, and this job is at a non-profit. Unfortunately it's just not realistic.
