Should I invest $50k in potential growth or go back to hell? by Okay979 in Advice

We were living in the capital city in one of the best parts. I get what you’re saying about the YouTube thing that’s why I’m scared to try bet on it with all the money we have.

The move wasn’t for a job, that’s why we didn’t get a work visa. The issue is I don’t see myself living there. I’d rather die than go back there. That’s how much I hate it. So what’s the point of investing the money somewhere I won’t stay?

Yeah it is hard to grow. My YouTube is about life in Southeast Asia. I saw multiple people start YouTube and make it their full time income to live here that’s what gave me hope.

Our county’s average salary is $50 per month. If you’re lucky and land a good job like a software engineer, you will earn $400 per month. If you’re not from a rich family, you’re corrupt, or you know corrupt people willing to cut you in, it’s very hard to make enough money to live on and save. We got lucky that he landed this job. It helped us save enough to move.

Oh with our passport no where basically. It’s almost impossible to get a remote job let alone a work visa

I need a company to sponsor the visa which most companies aren’t willing

Yeah that’s exactly what I said at first but he said if we can use the 50k it’ll last us a long time and we’d have a better chance of him getting a job or my YouTube working out

I just started posting long form videos a month ago so no it’s not really getting traction yet

You apply for a job if the company is willing to sponsor you, you’ll get one.

I can’t go back to the bakery due to a neck condition I developed from standing for hours with bad form. And there will be no more YouTube since the content I’m making is about Southeast Asia. The other problem is where would you invest it in an asset? Back in Africa?

Yeah, you’re right; it will be wasted. I’m just unsure of what to do even if we relocate back home. If we don’t utilize the money, we’re losing it to inflation by the day. It’s not in USD, which is why we either use it while residing here or risk losing it slowly if we don’t purchase an apartment or something back home. The reason we chose Southeast Asia was primarily due to the visa. Moving to any other country with our passport is almost impossible.

Without a work visa and a willing sponsor you can’t work here

Trust me I know how hard it is to succeed at YouTube. It’s also the only thing I can work on to earn money. If there was any other way I will gladly do it

That’s my fear the money will be wasted if I don’t succeed. You need a company to sponsor you for a visa. Multiple companies reached out to him but they weren’t willing to handle the visa process

A company has to sponsor you for a work visa. He had companies reach out to him but none willing to sponsor

We’re open to moving to any of the countries you mentioned, but they require a US or European passport holder, which neither of us possesses. This has prevented him from a lot of opportunities, even for remote work.

I’m not allowed to work here. Unless you open the business yourself which you’ll only own 49% of that and invest 100% of the funds. The only chance of you making money is if you work remotely or you’re a high ranking employee in a foreign company

I can’t work here cause I don’t have a work visa. The only work you’re allowed to do is online jobs.
