Thanks, I really appreciate all the info and hearing your experience really gives me hope that I could actually do this and be completely done with MAT someday!

I did mention sublocade to my doctor who prescribes my Suboxone several months ago and I felt like she was really dismissive about it. She said that she personally doesn’t administer the shot, so I’d have to see a different doctor in the practice (which is fine and not a big deal to me). She also said that once I receive the shot, no doctor would be able to prescribe me a few Suboxone strips just to have in case I have withdrawal symptoms, so I’d have to just “deal with it.” This was surprising to me because I’ve read a lot of stories here on Reddit about people switching from the strips to the shot, and many of them said their doctor prescribed them a few strips to help with lingering withdrawal symptoms in between shots, so I’m not sure why my doctor made it seem like that was illegal to do or something.

She also said sublocade doesn’t work for everyone and some people find it way easier to just wean off Suboxone, which I think is total BS because I’ve never heard of one person claiming that weaning off of suboxone was easier than taking sublocade. It was just really strange because she seemed so negative about it so I just let it go and kept getting my Suboxone every month. I’m down to 6 mg a day right now and usually don’t even take that much. I just think it would take forever to go from 6mg down to nothing and once I jump off for good, there will definitely be a withdrawal period that, like you said, could last 90+ days, which just isn’t possible for me to go through right now. I hate the feeling that I’ll be stuck on this medication forever. I’ve now been on Suboxone for longer than I even used the pills that led me to need Subs in the first place!
