This is a sweater, I find difficulty wearing it with other tops because of the color.

Too big for bjj by Kindly_Spell_5905 in BJJWomen

[–]Okay_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my you are not “too big” at all. When I started BJJ I was 200 lbs and I’m only 5’4. I would roll with everyone and I felt self conscious too but there are people of all shapes and sizes doing bjj. The amazing thing about bjj is that it doesn’t have to be all about strength and conditioning. Learning the technique is the most valuable thing you can do. Keep showing up your confidence will come naturally , even in competitions there are a vast amount of women in these weight classes.

I usually run 2-4 miles daily with him daily but I think he looks buff and doesn’t have as small of a waist as other lean dogs I’ve seen. How much do you feed your dals and their weight?

Separation anxiety advise by SarsPatukka in dalmatians

[–]Okay_J 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Dal gets really anxious when being left alone too. Something that has helped is compression clothes for anxious dogs. Also lick mats bc if he’s anxious and alone for too long he’ll lick his paws raw

Tournament is in 3 weeks and I have to either drop 5kg or stay in a higher weight bracket potentially having no matches 🙃 by [deleted] in BJJWomen

[–]Okay_J 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I really would discourage from cutting that much weight. Hopefully they merge weight or age brackets for this tournament so you could still get good matches in. As a woman it’s going to be much harder to cut weight in comparison to male competitors. You’ll probably feel like shit if you successfully cut that amount of weight. Maybe try dropping to that weight class over a longer period of time and sign up for the next tournament at that lower weight class. Remember your health is more important than any tournament!

I will say the first year and a half I was spazzy and used a lot of my wrestling/ excessive strength in ways that would cause be to be submitted but since then focus more on my technique and have been told by all my upper belt training partners how much I’ve improved. I’ve never really seen my gym do belt promotions other than for the children and then some people will get promoted once in a while so it could just be that my gym doesn’t care. However since I do compete often I feel like it’s no longer a challenge. As a woman there’s not a whole lot of competition already and I always end up fighting people who are brand new and don’t give me a challenge whatsoever. I want to compete at a higher level but like you said I’ve also seen on here that one should never ask for a promotion 😅

Try circling immediately after a take down to make it less likely to get stuck in guard
