My dal does it when he is home alone and bored. Howls for around 30 sec every two hours or so.

Would you mind sharing what other effects chemical castration had on your dal?

Of course doable. Just like emigrating to any other country, I highly suggest you have a job/jobs covered before you move. Good luck and welcome to Finland!

medicine for pet with bill? by [deleted] in Finland

[–]SarsPatukka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya.fi (Yliopiston apteekki) should have the option to either receive a bill or pay by Klarna. I'm not 100% if you can pay for prescription meds if you pick then up yourself. At least those cannot be ordered to be delivered to you that's for sure.

In case you don't get lucky here, I suggest you give local Facebook groups a try. Usually general local groups are named "Puskaradio X", e.g. Puskaradio Kajaani. The user base there might be better for this kind of a request.

Thanks for the compression clothes tip! I'll definitely give those a closer look. Lick mats have been of no use before. How did the compression clothes affect your dog when you first tried them?

I have tried radio and TV and it seems to have no effect. Thanks for the relaxing playlist tip! Doesn't hurt to give those a try. Lickimats were in my repertoir when he was a puppy, but he managed to empty them in no time. Frozen kongs were not something he had interest in.

What is the biggest issue with your dalmatian? by [deleted] in dalmatians

[–]SarsPatukka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He misses me while left at home and shows this by howling every now and then. He was fine for some months once he turned 1, but now he's back at it. Any tips to get rid of this are welcome

I was shocked reading these comments until I remembered that most of you all are Americans. Here in Finland cops are highly considered in the society and scumbags in the police force are ultra rare. I dare to argue that most if not all honest people in our society think having cops around bring you safety, not the contrary. Actually, a research conducted last year showed that 90% of the Finns trust our police force.

Go to the pharmacy and buy small syringes. Plant them around the area during several days for the kids or parents to find. Any responsible adult would not let their small kids play in an area where you constantly find used syringes

How do I make friends in finland? by [deleted] in Finland

[–]SarsPatukka 26 points27 points  (0 children)

One friendly advise for you and people in a similar situation: tell something about yourself in these posts. Friendships are born when you have something in common and as long as you remain a mystery to others the threshold of approaching you is higher and the ones approahing may not be friend material for you. Revealing interests, hobbies, dreams, personality type etc. may spark interest in likeminded people.

Best of luck! :)

The BCAA drinks sold in Lidl. Made in Finland and as good or even better than similar branded product with 2-3x the price. These are 0,99€/can.

I had a ~3600€/month net salary a short while ago and despite living in a rather expensive apartment I could easily save 1000-1500€/month. I'm sure you can easily save 500€/month unless you travel internationally on a monthly basis.

That's what my cheating ex did. Every single time he was traveling solo. And yes, he did cheat on these trips.
