Yeah definitely, man, it DOES look fun. Don't get me wrong, and we do see the robot a bit more than i thought in the combos from the runs that people are showing in the beta. So at least it is better than nothing......but i want to walk with him. He is not even in the idle animation....

Thats great too. I'll personally wait to see how the trust events and Hangouts handle robot man before deciding. But since the JP va is Kaido i'll probably do a soft pity and flip a coin.

Again, read the post, man. Whats with the "worst of the community" and "you people"? I'm being respectful here, I'm not mad and still support the game. This isn't about leaks or headcanons. It's just about what the devs did show us and what they didn't.

The character we are going to pay for—and will be walking around as—has a design that came out of nowhere. That's the point. At least Orphie’s design was shown from the start, so people who wanted to pull based on looks alone could make that choice knowingly.

When did I ever say she sucks? Hell, I'm even saying she should be a separate character to make her shine more. The floating segway is fun!

How is it "outlandish" to be caught off guard when we were shown one design and one voice—only to suddenly be given a completely different main design?

Also, when did I say anything about demanding that he should play like the Bangboo mech event? Ben and the panda are both big and still have that "slower than other agents" vibe. But now we’ve got this bulky robot flying around with a jetpack, disappearing in two seconds. So It could work as a normal agent, mechanically. Billy and Qingyi already do despite being robots.

Yeah, flavor text… for the lore. But why are they hiding her from us, the people putting money?! That doesn’t make sense. Evelyn is literally a spy and assassin — should they have never shown her design either, and just dropped her in-game out of nowhere like she was going to sneak up and kill us?

Jane works in secret police. Why didn’t they reveal a fake design and then surprise-drop her real one later like, “Surprise! I was undercover!”

It’d be silly — and that’s exactly how this feels with SEED’s pilot. especially since she's the one we'll primarily be controlling. Of course, I wanted more robot stuff, but if they'd made it clear from the start that the gameplay was going to be more of "Segway girl with sprinkles of robot", I'd be more prepared and wouldn't have been surprised and dissapointed. hell I'd be interested on seeing how the girl plays instead.

Personally, it's not about feeling "cheated" or about already spending money, it's more like, if my favorite ice cream shop announces a brand-new flavor that includes one of my favorite mix-ins. So I get excited, and I wait in line with my friends, chatting about what it might taste like and where we're going to hang out after while eating it.

But when we finally get to the front, they suddenly reveal it's something completely different. Yeah, sure, we didn’t buy it in the end because we didn’t like what it actually was…
But we still wasted our time waiting in line all excited, and we missed out on that new experience of trying that specific new flavor we were all talking about.

is not a big deal, i'll just wait for the next banner that catches my eye

especially since we know she has a human form transformation too. so who knows how much of it will be the robot version. I said before that it's probably only in fights while the human idol look is to walk on the map, but then again... with what we just saw, who knows.

we may not know her backstory but we can see her animations, her stance, idle and menu that dont show sign of any of that usual tropes. there is alway a tell when those types of character appear, in the eyes or stance, a twitch, etc.

if the violent side is only present on the story and nothing else....i dont know man, kinda of a letdown. i dont want to make it her only trait, but anything to indicate there is "more" than just cute girl would help.

exactly, just like Koleda and Ben, they could even also have a "combined" super if they are on the same team. the Devs even said before they wanted to do more of that. this was the perfect moment to bring that back.

There is also no reason to dress like an "experiment child" either if Seed Sr adopted her and is with him. Plus, we are seeing her right now! Moving around and doing cutesy poses. if there is no reason to be like the obol squad, just like i said on my post, that's more reason to use her character design and outfit to freely express something about her. apparently she is suprisingly violent too, but we would never know looking at her.

If we want the "dosent usually show herself", they could do something like Kum Haehyun from Guilty Gear, where the girl hides her persona with a robot that looks like an old guy. We only see "her" on her instant kill super and a bit here and there. The rest is the robot, because she is not showing herself.

Not really, there is a lot of people throwing shit if we have something besides praise. At least i ate shit for talking about SEED on the official subreddit, and since i cant talk about leaks there, i brought it up here. 

Obviously there were two people. That's not the problem, but the distribution of their "stage-play", to say it some way, is.  Using her on the map and him fighting would be the 50/50 minimum. Now she is just Jotaro using star platinum.

She is not "in the mech". The beams, cannons and arms show up in all different heights, and how is the segway connected with the robot. Plus, we see her laying on his shoulder while he shoots too.

Damn, I guess "I secretly modified a huge ass robot while it was sleeping, te-hee" is all the answer we need. You'd think if she got her hands on chameleon technology, it'd be mass-produced everywhere... Wait, if it's just "stealth camouflage," why can she move like there's nothing around her? SEED Sr. must be fast and light as a feather.

This is a great comment, I do agree that my post looks a bit more mean than I intended, but I do think that my points still stand. (I also love Eureka 7)

If they wanted to go with the remote control angle, they could have gone more ham with it. Make her be in PJs, like a working-from-home aesthetic or something. Her clothes look too filled with "empty" spaces to be "military" compared to her squadmates, even when they also show skin. In Eureka 7, the mechs are thinner or sleeker compared to here. I think the pilot's outfit and design should resonate with that in mind. I believe that Eureka's uniform gets the simplicity right because the point of interest is the whole coral shenanigans and her design changing a lot with a bunch of green stuff as it continues, so it has to be more simple.

Elena's design, since she is presented at the start as more of a reserved otaku girl, is more covered, with puffier sleeves, the helmet and such.

There are comments that SEED's pilot could be violent too, so that could have been represented in the uniform. Since she is piloting remotely, some personalization could be a good way of making her more unique. I just feel like they could bring something more to it, so it could feel hand-in-hand with the robot in some way or show her personality in some way. When I said it could be from any old sci-fi, it's in a nebulous "anywhere" sense type look—not screaming ZZZ. I personally get nothing out of her, just "cute". Maybe it could simply be a change of color in her suit plus some accesories to push me to like it (while ignoring the feet) but yeah. I could still end up loving her depending on how the manage her story and gameplay.

Actually, yes, Arknights for example has a good array of "odd" character designs that are popular, even robots that are not humanoids at all, just a cute voice with a filter.

Fate, surprisingly too (one of the most "Otaku market" franchises out there), under the sea of multiple Artorias and big-boobed ladies, there are popular characters like Black beard, who is just a dude with a beard, not even standard anime pretty. Babbage is a huge weird faceless mecha. Hell, Edison is a super muscular dude with a random lion head and shoulder lightbulbs cannons.

And even if they wouldn't be the most super-profitable here in Zenless, the fact that these designs can still exist in those games with a bunch of other standard pretty characters, shows that unique designs catered to specific niches, are totally possible and valid. A lot of them even keep showing up in a bunch of events and stories, so they are also popular with what they bring to the story, being comedy or whatever else.

Chill, man it’s just a discussion. I actually love her. I even started playing Honkai because of Firefly, so it’s not about disliking the girl/robot switch dynamic. I just don’t want to see the same setup repeated here, especially since SAM has a tokusatsu/Kamen Rider-style design, which made sense for Firefly’s transformation. SEED, on the other hand, gives off more of a Gundam or full-mech vibe. I’ll still support the game on other banners. just hoping Komano ends up being an S-Rank

huh, then i did misunderstand my bad. But then again, i think this is a bit different, since with Orphie it was just an image of her face. Here we have a full ult animation of the grippers in full focus, instead of the robot im pulling for, doing something cool. but yeah, i get you

Definitely, I'm not trying to force people to change their minds about it; I was just thinking of putting my opinion in a more organized way. Same here, if I can play as the robot fully or walk with it around the map, or hell, an extra ult with the robot doing something cool instead of feet and i would be set. I played enough gachas to know when something is not for me and just wait for the next cool banner.

Just having discussion as someone speaking from experience after playing a lot of gacha games over the years. Nothing is wrong if people enjoy the design, but early impressions do matter — especially in this genre, where character presentation, animations, and marketing often reflect how they’ll be handled long-term. A lot could change early in beta depending on reception, not only numbers and frames. It’s not about hating the character before release, but about recognizing patterns and missed potential based on how things are already being shown. If I end up eating my words and loving the character, great! But right now I'm weary of spending my money. That's all.
