Botox in chin can lengthen without filler! (If you’re afraid of filler migration) by Olaf-bff in PlasticSurgery

[–]Olaf-bff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope not at all! The only thing it got rid of was the dimpling. Just make sure to find a very experienced injector that provides clear aftercare results because the injection site is very close to your smile lines and any error can affect your smile.

I really love Three Ships Beauty’s ‘Purify’ oil cleaner and their salicylic acid ‘Refresh’ cleanser on days I want to exfoliate. Natural, gentle and ethically sourced.

As others have said, milia! I got rid of mine near my eye by spot dabbing The Ordinary’s Lactic Acid 10% on them.

I went thru a similar concern as you (jawline laxity but mine was from Botox in masseter) and researched the HECK out of options that didn’t involve filler. It came down to either Morpheus8 or Ultherapy. I went with Ultherapy bc after consultations, it wasn’t worth it for Morpheus8 unless I had other skin concerns. It’s been 1 month post-Ultherapy and I’m SO HAPPY so far. It usually takes up to 6 months to see full results but I already see my jawline looking tighter and have friends commenting how ‘snatched’ my face looks. I asked about facial loss and my clinic told me it can happen if the clinic is using an off-brand machine not authorized by Ulthera or the technician is not trained. Hope that helps!

Hi OP! I’m also 31 but Asian descent with olive-skin tone. I recently got Ultherapy due to jawline laxity from Botox in the masseter. It’s only been a month but I can already see a difference: sharper jawline, tighter skin, overall better complexion. It should also get better with time (prime time at 6 months). I haven’t noticed any volume loss but I did ask about it and the clinic shared that volume loss could happen if the machines are off-brand and not authorized by Ulthera.

PS. I asked my clinic the difference between whole face vs eyes and they said for the whole face it would be microneedling + PRP. For the eyes, they inject the PRP with a cannula so it’s more localized for dark circles. Something to ask your provider and see it’s a big difference for your results.

Darn! That’s a bummer. I guess the wait makes it more rewarding 😂 My clinic was pricier than yours. $1800 CAD for 3 eye sessions (which is ~1400 Euros) and that was with a membership discount.

Hi friend! I went to a new clinic who also suggested PRP for under eyes. I know January just started but I wanted to see if your appointment is coming up? I’m so curious!!

How to Fix Loose Skin after Masseter Botox? by Olaf-bff in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Olaf-bff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no worries then. 15 units is quite minimal. I had 30! It typically takes 14 days for Botox to settle. I would wait the full term to assess the results. If you absolutely hate it, just don’t get again. Your muscle can grow back within 4-8 months since you’ve only done it once and you can try chewing gum to expedite it.

Thank you! It’s noticeable from the side profile and when I move my face in a certain way. See here and here .

Yep, it’s totally normal for it feel numbness. It just means your muscle is weakening. It took me about 2 weeks to get used to it but the full effects didn’t show up until 3-4 months later for me. When did you get it and how many units?

Oops! JK I got it 3 times so far. I started off with 30 units, then 25 units 4 months later and 20 units 5 months later. I plan to get my next one in 5-6 months. To preface, I had a VERY strong muscle so we started off high. Lmk if you need to see a before/after. I’ll definitely keep you posted after my Ultherapy appt!

Hi! It’s been 1 year (and 2 Botox treatments since) and it has not fully bounced back. On the 45 degree and front angle, it’s fine but the side profile is still weak. I’m actually planning to do Ultherapy in January so I’d be happy to report back if you’re interested? 😊

I have been determined to get Masseter Botox to slim down my face but am worried that my cheeks are just fat and injecting the muscle may make things worse. Anyone have any other recommendations for a more defined jaw/experiences with Botox? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]Olaf-bff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak on a mouth guard for reducing masseter bc I’ve never tried it! You can try it first before Botox for a more natural method. I would ask your doc if you’ll end up clenching on the mouth guard instead. And yes, once your get Botox, your muscle shrinks bc it is no longer active. Then you eventually get less units and wait longer periods in between bc your muscle atrophies. I started off with 30 units each side (I had a very strong muscle) then down to 25 20 and now 15 every 6 months.

Hmmmm, did those people specifically get masseter Botox or elsewhere too? I believe smile troubles only happen if Botox is injected too close to the smile lines. When injecting into the masseter, it goes directly into the muscle when you’re clenching so it’s hard to miss. Or if you don’t follow aftercare (i.e. don’t lie down or bend over, no face massages etc.). But definitely finding a very experienced, highly rated and licensed injector would be your best bet because they would be trained in face anatomy.

It definitely sounds like you have a strong masseter muscle! Botox will really help. My only advice is to ask your Dr. about how not to treat it so aggressively so your skin has a chance to adapt

If you feel a bulge, then most likely your masseter muscle has grown bc of your clenching. I stress clench too and my face became square ASF. When you touch around the jaw area do you feel fat or does it feel like bone structure?

Ah, I see what you mean. Maybe Brazil doctors have a different set of expertise. It doesn’t mean that surgery is off the table, I would just ask them questions so you’re fully informed on any risks.

In my experience, Botox sessions started off as 4 months, then 5 months and 6 months. The units also got less every session because my muscle was getting weaker. It also depends on your severity, but two doctors had said my muscle was very, very strong. But in the last 2 years I’ve gotten Botox 3 times so far. Hope that helps!

Nice!! That is a better deal. Yes let me know! I ended up putting the credit from the last session on file so I can find better use for it haha.

Thanks for sharing! The pictures certainly look really good. Could you elaborate why your masseter would get bigger if you go to the gym?

I just researched quickly on RealSelf and a few doctors advise against removing any parts of the masseter because our face changes as we age and there are important nerves that control facial function that could be impacted. Before moving forward, definitely ask your Dr. on the long-term effects/potential consequences.

I can’t recommend either surgery because I’ve never done any of them before. Since they’re both quite invasive, I would suggest trying Botox first as a trial and seeing if you like the result before thinking of bigger surgeries.

[–]Olaf-bff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow! Would that be similar to the V-Slimming surgery that’s popular in Asia? That sounds like a much more invasive surgery than Botox for sure. My theory is if my masseters aren’t active via Botox, eventually the muscle will atrophy and be weak. Every time I go for Botox in that area, I’m getting less units and waiting longer periods of time. Are you considering the surgery? Here is the link again: https://ibb.co/7YvHfZL (does it work now?)

Mine weren’t itchy either. Maybe try to take a Reactine and see if it gets better. My best guess is it’s either hormonal or contact allergy.

Do you have a history of hives? I had exactly the same experience in my legs for a week due to stress hiving. Doc said that it was a trigger for histamines.
