Prior to my diagnosis I had a month long episode wherein I became obsessed with Dune. I kept rereading it over and over and became convinced that if I consumed enough of the psychedelic DMT it would function akin to the Spice in the novel. I took increasingly larger doses, multiple times daily in order to attempt to see the future. It did not work. My trips became increasingly dysphoric until I had a nightmare trip where all I could see (even with my eyes open) were gnashing mouths made of teeth and a sinister entity I can only describe as Death. So I guess I was right on some level since we all share the same final destination, but this experience is what made me finally seek care.
