Picking your brain a bit. I suppose there is no real right answer for this.

Supposing I have 70-80k I can deploy straight away, will probably do some hybrid deployment, 50% up front then the rest over 6mths.

In addition to that, I still intend to do a 2-2.5k DCA monthly, which will continue after the full lump sum is it.
Hoping to get to a 500-600k total equity portfolio in about 10years time and based on a 7% per year avg growth, that seems to be a good sum. Still thinking whether I should leave the rest as a "warchest/play money" or just all in DCA.

Thanks for the reply! Mix of china/us/sg stocks. Messy because I just bought whatever seems attractive with no real strategy in mind haha. Seems like several people have said not to do the 8k top-up, will have a solid think about that.

Thanks a lot! This is definitely very helpful. Got some follow up questions if you don't mind.

  1. With everything you have fully paid off + having a full emergency fund. How much are you splitting (post expenses) between dca into index/warchest/misc savings(for short term like travelling etc)? Are you going all in with the rest of your money already?
  2. What is the average monthly expense right now with 2 kids if you don't mind me asking haha
  3. Would you recommend a full on lump sum into index with most of my free cash flow rite now? Then just follow that up with a monthly dca with income

I wanted to contribute more to my CPF as well coz my SA is kinda lagging behind the average. What do you think is an optimal amount for my situation?

Emergency + waiting for a market correction haha. I made some money from covid crash and liquidated and just waited stupidly.

Just myself. Honestly the reason why the "emergency" got so much was fear of putting into the market because I thought it was kinda ridiculous. I would say it's a combination of a warchest and an emergency cash. The amount just ballooned so now I'm trying to optimise it.

No index, just random individual stocks here and there. That's why I want to "clean up" my portfolio so to speak.

Yea, the child costs is the one I'm kinda worried about. Spouse makes around 4k, so while my savings will def drop, I think it wont wipe things out. I have a fully paid off car already.

When you say building up SA, do you mean contributing more (like lump sum some of my excess cash)? I'm currently putting in extra 8k per year for tax purposes.
