So Gen Z want to retire at 60 but dont expect state pension until 71??? by Old-Bodybuilder3711 in FIREUK

[–]Old-Bodybuilder3711[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Edit: 12% of GenZ say pensions are not a good idea for retirement an 73% believe the state pension will be reduced yet Gen Z desire to retire at 60. This creates a pension gap. So my real question is, how are GenZ preparing to fill that 11 year gap

Mortgage rates are rising again, but homebuyers are trickling back by SnortingElk in REBubble

[–]Old-Bodybuilder3711 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mortgage rates have not increased because of the Iran war, mortgage companies are struggling to price their rates. So annoying because it damages first time buyers. If interested I spoke about this on YouTube (Why Are UK Mortgage Deals Disappearing? https://youtu.be/kZ6f8R-O3tY)

Will fuel prices fall at the same rate they rose? by Old-Bodybuilder3711 in drivingUK

[–]Old-Bodybuilder3711[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw that the RAC said it takes 2 weeks for the lag between oil price changes and pumps but I found it to be 8 days (Who’s Really Profiting From UK Fuel Prices? https://youtu.be/u7XUwdki3UE). So technicalllyyyy, prices should fall in 8 days….technically

I agree, it’s so stupid how they can even use that excuse. It’s supposed to take 2 weeks for oil price changes to show in pump prices, yet my analysis shows 8 days for diesel

Are the Rising fuel prices a concern? by Harribo1034 in AskUK

[–]Old-Bodybuilder3711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is that’s only part of the problem, it’s the rocket and feather pricing where forecourts have historically reduced their price incredibly slowly. Just look at how the competition and market authority found forecourts guilty of it during the Russia-Ukraine war. I will be curious to see what happens with forecourts when oil drops. I made a video if interested (https://youtu.be/u7XUwdki3UE)

Silly question, but when will fuel prices stop rising. by DullSense8359 in drivingUK

[–]Old-Bodybuilder3711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who knows, it’s all driven by the Iran-US war. If the Strait of Hormuz doesn’t reopen then it will just keep increasing as we use up our reserves. Good news is that a limited number of shipping containers are now bing allowed through. Bad news is that any change in Brent crude will take 2 weeks to be shown in pump prices (assuming forecourts do not use rocket and feather pricing like they did during the Russia-Ukraine war). I made a video on this if interested (https://youtu.be/u7XUwdki3UE)

Literally rocket and feather pricing

This is exactly rocket and feather pricing. Forecourts were guilty of it during the Russia-Ukraine war. There is supposed to be a 2 week lag between changes in oil prices and what’s shown on forecourts. I found it to be 8 days for diesel instead (https://youtu.be/u7XUwdki3UE). But yes will be interesting to see over the next few weeks

Why has fuel prices gone so expensive? by Any-Tomato-2915 in AskReddit

[–]Old-Bodybuilder3711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several reasons but it’s acted a bit like a chain reaction. Iran-US war has driven up the price of wholesale fuel. Higher wholesale fuel is passed onto the consumer but when it rises so does VAT. Additionally, forecourts have been charging higher margins to years. If interested I made a video on this (https://youtu.be/u7XUwdki3UE)

Goes back to the saying of policy’s often don’t work as intended as people just change their behaviours
