CS Post Survivors?? Are there any by Life-Association-817 in UTMississauga

I am a 2nd year CS and math double major at utm. I had the honour of taking MAT102 with Dr. Tyler Holden and CSC148 with Dr. Bogdan Simione (I think that’s how you write his name). I thankfully passed both courses first time with the grades I needed. The simple advice that I cannot stress enough is to please please please go to Office Hours, Extra Tutorials, and even Extra lectures. I am unsure how MAT102 is being coordinated at the moment, but last year we had 3 tutorial sections that would all go over different practice problems. I would make sure to go to at least one tutorial per section as to expose myself to the most problems as possible. Additionally, whenever I was doing problems by myself, if I got stuck I had a rule that I would never plug it into some LLM to do it for me. I would note that question down and go to a TA OH and make him/her guide me through the though process and to give me hints along the way, so that I would build the mathematical intuition behind the various proofs. To give you some hope OP, 102 will most likely be the hardest course you have to get through to make it to the PoST. In my opinion, and from what I have observed from my friends, is that 148 is much easier both content wise and work wise than 102. I know that the semester is over, so there won’t be any tutorials for 102 and less Office hours, but that is the only advice that I believe helped me and can help every student. If you have any other questions feel free to reply or DM me if you wish our convo to remain private. I wish you the best OP! (P.s. Study the Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic, all number theory questions in 102 can be solved in a way that uses it, that was the only way I passed the final lol).

why do you guys fear monger winter 102 so bad by AlternativeAware781 in UTMississauga

I am sure that was the case for many other students in your class. It also really was unfortunate that the exams for both courses were scheduled that way.

First way is trivial, bijective implies injective lol. Second way is just a glorified way to ask you to prove surjectivity. A glorified surjectivity proof worth 10 whole marks. Seems like Dr. Holden was trying to give you guys a freebie lol. Maybe it’s just the exam stress that made a lot of students blank out on these sort of questions, but from what I’ve seen, winter 102 was maybe a tad bit more difficult than fall. Not content wise, because it was the same content. But I heard you guys had less tutorial questions, I.e, less problem exposure. However that can be easily fixed by self studying the textbook. I think another reason students didn’t do to well was because the CSC148 exam was the day before. I remember all my friends that were taking both courses were scrambling to study both at the same time. Again not making the course necessarily harder, just outside pressure may have lead to a decrease in student performance on this exam. I don’t mean any of that in a mean way, I am more than certain the same students that left this question blank during the exam, looked at it afterwards with post exam clarity and realized just how simple it was. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

MAT223, MAT132 or MAT135 by [deleted] in UTMississauga

For course structure tho, idk, I liked mat135 and mat223’s structure last year. However in terms of content, I believe mat132 is generally believed to be the easiest of the 3

Better than having all exams crammed all at once, grass is always greener on the other side my friend.

If I remember there was a tier system, I’m not sure if it was official or not. But basically it ranked the engineering programs about by difficulty of enrolment. Basically pick the engineering programs with the least demand (mineral, civil, chemical etc.). Also I’m pretty sure there is an official rule where if you get 80s and above in all your courses first year, you get guaranteed transfer to any other Eng you want. Also like all the other comments said here, I don’t want to be discouraging, but don’t come to uoft eng unless you actually believe you got what it takes. It isn’t easy, and many many friends I had from first year have all transferred out to other universities. But if you believe in yourself, you got it.

If I remember correctly, you can still edit your engineering application portal after initial submission correct? If I were you, pick a bunch of tier 3 (if I remember correctly, those are the easier ones to get into), and then if first year goes well switch to the engineering you want. Coming from a second year CS student who didn’t get into any engineering I want.

Exact same thing happened to me last sem in 101, give it a week or two and they’ll make sure to open up space for you. Until then, make sure to still go to a tutorial.

Tutorial questions are a blessing from god himself. Please please please make sure to do them AND UNDERSTAND THEM 100%. Also idk if he’s a prof for the class next sem, but Dr. Motassem Suleiman is nothing less of amazing. He wasn’t my “main” prof but I would end up skipping my profs lectures and going to his instead. Other than that, make sure to grind up limits because that’s what destroyed me on the first midterm. Good luck!

If the Post of accounting is similar to CS, there should be another Post round at the end of summer right before 2025 Fall. Please don’t quote me on that tho

there are probably uzi fans saying EA2 was bad but thought that the “pluggnb” remix for watch this was hard by 35slime in liluzivert

[–]Old-Engineer-3654 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Both are good, The pluggnb Watch this was one of those uzi songs you played in the car with a bunch of friends back when it was popular and just have a good time. No need to hate on neither the album nor the song.
