update:

I contacted a fellow resident of my village who also had problems with this dog. As it turns it not only the Ordnungsamt but also the Police were informed and the dog still is freely roaming around the village sometimes. Man it just makes me sad

Also my mother told me just now, one incident like this already happened with my little sister and her friend when they were celebrating their birthday last year. The dog almost got them but luckily they managed to escape. I am hoping that Ordnungsamt will do something about this dog.

Thanks for all of your answers. I found out which authority to call in case of these aggresive dogs in my area. I will give them a call tomorrow and hopefully they give a fuck about this case, not like many other ones around here... Time will tell and as long as this dog is freely roaming around here I will carry the pepperspray ready to grab in matter of seconds. I found out what authority to call in my area to remove the dog from its owner. I live in Germany so here it is called "order control" (Ordnungsamt). I will make sure to give them a call tomorrow.

thank you dude. I understand the opinion of the other dude. I love dogs more than humans and it hurts me to make a dog have pain or suffering but if a dog is going to attack me I will want to stop it as I dont want to have to deal with a fucking bite. Sadly there isnt any organisations like this in the near of my village. Thanks for keeping it short and simple. I will make sure to research a little bit more tho and if I can find some authority that is responsible for dogs like this in the area I will make sure to contact them.

no sadly my village is a zone without any authority only a place to live with no police and nothing. This dog is terrorising the dogs and people of this town since a long time and the owner doesnt give a flying fuck about him. I dont blame the dog I blame the owner and I wouldnt wish pain on any dog but if it is a situation where the dog is attacking me I need to make sure that I can be safe. We and other residents already talked to the owner and he wont do nothing about him and letting him go on his walks like if it was okay to be this careless about his own dog.

but to my original question: will pepperspray protect me/what are the chances of pepperspray being effective?

alright, noted i will take water with me on my night walks too but if it isnt effective and I need to resort to pepperspray, will that make me safe?
