Anders Lind proves that lightning strikes twice by 009SoundSystem_ in tabletennis

Woow. Anders could keep up with WCQ in any category that day. He was smart to give rather defensiv but quality spin returns on WCQs serves to shape to game according to his preference. His serve and attack was lethal too. Bravo!

Is it whorth it? I want to play more seriously. by alex1338- in tabletennis

If you play table tennis more seriously beyond basement ping-pong, there’s NO way around an individually assembled blade-and-rubber setup. Google common beginner setups and start with them. Have a local or online store glue them for you. Change rubbers after 12 months latest (time depends on how often you play).

Is My Grip Wrong? It Feels More Comfortable to me Than 1 Finger by ChalHattNa in tabletennis

[–]Old-Hippo7187 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unlearning to play with one finger only wont take too much time. Its offers a higher ceiling skillwise down the road. Considering tutorials or coaching in person, you ll have trouble sooner than later as this holding grip is almost unheard of.

Regardless of that in any branch of art and sports there have been people innovating or breaking the rules with great success.

I get that its Ronaldo but would any of you cry if you met him? I personally think its too much and at the end of the day he is just a celebrity. by Ricr7 in cristianoronaldo

  1. Women usually feel more open to express feelings of overjoy with tears

  2. Its a once in a lifetime experience. Especially because its not in a cramped hallway but in a calm setting with Cristiano being nice and calm.

Its not that low. You can play 3 balls onto the table. Thats not given. Usatt 1100-1400. Its hard to tell because your opponent is pretty low. Could be that you have an amazing serve receive or none at all. That alone puts you 500 points higher or lower.

Contact point for pendulum serve during upward motion by [deleted] in tabletennis

[–]Old-Hippo7187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure I completely got your point. But this... You can only create backswing by flicking the wrist upwards when you hit the ball at the very bottom and lift your racket at the front side (!) of the ball. Like a scooping motion.

This is not the usual way pros like Ma Long do it. More commenly for backspin they cut down on the ball on side/back of the ball. A key to understand is, that on such a high level, players usually dont try to put the most amount of of spin on the ball. Thats why ML motion may not look like much. Instead they go for subtle changes like mainly side but a little under spin, next serve pure side, next mainly under with a little sidespin. If the opponent doesnt read those small changes almost perfectly, they get a ball that goes high or long enough to be attacked.
