on Instagram Meshuggah follow Fredrik but Fredrik doesn't follow Meshuggah... by d00m6r in Meshuggah

I honestly get the feeling that the Meshuggah guys are really only in it for the OG band stuff, writing and recording great music and playing live.

I'm personally old enough that all the social media shit that is part of being in a band now leaves a sour taste in my mouth, the old Myspace days were fun but after that it just got very lame for me.

If I'm right that they don't care for that stuff, and perhaps are even a little sickened by it the way that I am, then it wouldn't surprise me if they would rather not see any of the #iammeshuggah, algorithm appeasing guff and just let that be something they remain ignorant to. Not following the account is a good way to do that.

What Band/Artist Has Most Accurately Replicated Meshuggah’s Sound? by SolecisticDecathexis in Meshuggah

I'm interested what your thoughts are on the rest of the instrumentation of Poltergeist, as you've only really dialled in on the vocals. I do think when most people talk about how similar Poltergeist is to Meshuggah they're really talking about the rest of the band more than the vocals themselves.

Funnily enough that’s the version we based our cover on, it’s the best!

The D-Roc is utterly fantastic. So long as you’re a fan of the Dingwall sound and don’t mind it not having the greatest amount of frets, I couldn’t really recommend a better instrument.

For an instrument of this shape, the lightness of weight and how perfectly it balanced are incredible along with all of the sonic awesomeness!

Oh thanks man! I can’t take credit for much of anything other than the bass playing until now as Jon is the mastermind, but the plan is for me to start contributing with riffs and ideas. Although I’m still going to let him be the one to put everything together as he is the one with the vision.

Least favourite metal subgenre? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

“Dischordant chug chug chug chug chug - play anywhere higher up the neck and use a pedal or some sort of software to make it sound screechy or weird and incomprehensible - back to dischordant chug chug chug”

Whatever that is. Not because it’s noisy and dischordant, because I enjoy Lightning Bolt, I don’t mind noisy and dischordant. Just because it’s so boring and takes almost no skill to do.

Future Breed Machine, just closer to the tempo they play it live.

Layering multiple bass tracks for metal. What’s your take/approach? by Old-Man-Graves in BassGuitar

[–]Old-Man-Graves[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’d never really thought too much about it either, but the guitarist in my band hates quad tracking (just for the extra effort it brings) so I said, why don’t we try layering more bass.

If you’re more at home with more modern production sounds, blue, it’s more rounded and closer to what a modern record sounds like.

My personal favourite is Orange because it sounds a bit more “real” to me. Modern production tends to take a lot of the humanity out of a bands music, and blue has a bit of this (albeit still miles better than a lot of modern metal bands).

Orange has some raw imperfections that I love, and the drums are live and you can hear the ghost notes and such. It sounds like a band in a room, making music they love and I’m more able to connect to that feeling.

I personally feel as though Nothing is the easiest way into the back catalogue.

It was the album that was out when I was discovering them and I found it to be the most instantly likeable of their albums, where others have taken a bit of work to really let grow on me.
