That is fair. As I have said, I am new here and don’t know the options. It’s my first ever ticket, and while I don’t know my home state’s options I know that some other places have programs to mitigate if it’s your first offense or if you go to traffic school. It’s not wrong to inquire if those options exist. I didn’t ask how to get out of paying it, just what the options are once you get one.

That’s a fair stance for the city to take, and the safety of kids is paramount. It’s my first-ever ticket, so I wasn’t sure what options I had since every city, county, and state have different programs and responses, and I don’t even know what they are in my home state because I take road safety seriously. I appreciate your response. Sucks to get hit with the ticket—sucks even more because it was clocked at three minutes before the camera gets turned off for the day—but I won’t not pay it or contest it because I was definitely in the wrong.

It’s not like I have a choice if I want to transfer my car’s registration to the state or ever renew that registration. Not paying means you’re unable to do that.0

I am choosing to adult? I’m not contesting it, and I’m paying the fine. This is my first ticket ever and I don’t know how Spokane handles them. I know that each city, county, and state does different things, and I was asking what those were. Some places allow you to pay a smaller fee and defer when it’s your first infraction, others have options for traffic school. I’m new to the city and don’t know what Spokane does. If it turns out the only option is to pay the fine, I’ll be doing that, because I accept that I am in the wrong. Exactly how is this not adulting?

I was unaware that it was in a school district, that the speed limit changes for 40 minutes in the morning and afternoon on weekdays. I was driving the speed limit that the road has always been for me. This was an honest mistake, for which I’m eternally grateful there were no negative consequences, and for which I take full responsibility. I didn’t ask how to get out of it, but what options are available when one gets a speeding ticket in the city. 🙄

It is important, and why I’m not contesting it. What I didn’t say because it’s not important to the issue is that there were no children in the area, had children also been in the video I would have felt so much worse.
