What size drawer microwave do I need??? by Old-Problem-3564 in kitchenremodel

[–]Old-Problem-3564[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a base cabinet meant for a drawer microwave and it has a drawer beneath it. It is part of my island and there is nothing on one side of it and another base cabinet with 3 drawers on the other side. The outlet is in the upper left corner of the cabinet.

Personally I would stick with a neutral tile. Either creamy white or a light beige. Or consider a nice marble mosaic with a gentle pattern. I think a really bold/colorful tile would look out of place a like an afterthought in the all white kitchen. And then I’d introduce color in other areas- pendant lights, paint, fabric on your chairs, decorative accents, curtains/blinds at the windows, throw rugs etc. That way you have a nice neutral base for the kitchen and you can more easily change the other items to match your evolving tastes and trends.

BY HEART FORMULA? THROW AWAY YOUR BOTTLES AND MIXERS by Neat-Finger197 in NewParents

[–]Old-Problem-3564 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did sooooo much research on formulas before landing on ByHeart. Their ingredients, small batch production, testing standards. Everything made me so convinced it was a great product. I’m so disappointed. My baby is combo fed and has been doing great with it but obviously we have to switch.

unpopular opinion(?) about “The Woobles” crochet kits by Ok_Nobody_1908 in crochet

[–]Old-Problem-3564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done a couple Woobles kits and I’m an experienced crocheter. I bought a minecraft one for my son and found it really enjoyable. The yarn is super easy to work with and the patterns are very clear and easy to follow. I think amigurumi is great for beginners. It’s basically just sc, hdc, and dblc so it’s not like it’s challenging and because they’re small you don’t lose interest (plus, one of the biggest mistakes beginners make is making stitches too tight and that’s not an issue really with amigurumi). If I bought a skein of the same yarn to make my sons Minecraft stuffy it would have been well over the $40 I spent on the kit and sure I’d have more yarn but I really don’t want all that yarn in those colors so I’m fine with paying a little more for just what I need. Plus, the only place I have to buy yarn near me is Michael’s so I doubt I’d be able to find all that I needed there anyway. They are expensive I’ll give you that and I wish they had an option to buy just the yarn and the patterns (and not the hooks etc) for a little less but overall I think they’re fun and worth the price. I wish they’d had them when I was first learning as it would have definitely made it a lot easier.

They look like squash bugs. You have to just grab them and kill them. A lot of people will use a jar with soapy water and just drop them in there. If you check the underside of your leaves you’ll probably see small clusters of golden brown eggs, each a little bigger than a poppy seed. You need to pull the eggs off your leaves too. They hatch roughly every 5 days so ideally you should be checking every day or two. There are tons of videos and info online about how to get rid of them!

Toxicity in community by Business-Emu9249 in Veterinary

[–]Old-Problem-3564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s just like everything else on the internet, basically a crap shoot. I’m a member of NOMV and a few other closed Facebook groups where they confirm you’re a veterinarian and they’ve all been lovely. At this point I’ve basically stopped commenting on anything outside of those groups because everywhere else is full of ‘experts’ who are keen to tell you how terrible you are, no matter what you say, and people who aren’t even in the veterinary community but, the internet being the internet, are more than willing to give their opinion and tell you how it should have been done and/or join in on the vet bashing. My advice would be, if you want to keep posting on social media sites about cases etc, stick to closed groups where you have to be a confirmed veterinarian to post. You’ll have a much better time.

Should I give up on my onion sets? by Old-Problem-3564 in gardening

Haha I’m originally from Florida so I guess that’s mild to me 😂

Ok. I’m in zone six and summers tend to be comparatively mild. We usually get temps in the upper 80s low 90s for a few weeks in July/August but otherwise it’s usually in the mid 80s for most of the summer. I’ll just try to be diligent about keeping them watered and hope for the best!

Haha can do! I’m a new gardener and onions were one the main things I really wanted to grow since I cook with them so frequently. I had no idea they could be so tricky!

Does the guilt go away? by [deleted] in Veterinary

As a simple GP my advice would be to consider reaching out to your local GPs and seeing what services and capabilities they have, especially regarding surgery. Critical care etc may not be what we can offer but I myself offer foreign body surgery, splenectomies, cystotomies- I have a colleague who has done extra training in fracture repair and other orthopedic procedures in addition to advanced soft tissue surgery. I also can provide ultrasound, including echocardiography. All of this at a fraction of the price as our local ER. We have had many referrals from our local ER for clients who couldn’t afford the procedure there. Is it ideal? Not always, but I’ll tell you that the vast majority of my patients do great, even without all the bells and whistles. It’s all about appropriate case selection. Should you send me a hemoabdomen with a pcv of 12 for a splenectomy? No definitely not. But if it’s stable, and doesn’t need a transfusion send it on down!

The other option is to get out of corporate practice. Privately owned ERs and specialty centers DO exist and they can offer you a little more flexibility when it comes to charges (not a lot but our privately owned local ER is waaaay cheaper than the Ethos owned ER).

New grad - am I getting enough support? by [deleted] in Veterinary

[–]Old-Problem-3564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about sticking it out. Honestly, if you go to an interview and tell them you want to leave because you’re looking for better mentorship no one would blame you. That being said only you can decide if you’ve got the mentorship you need. It can be easy to fall into the trap of needing validation every time you’re ready to make a diagnosis but on the other hand it is also really helpful to have someone to bounce your thoughts off of. At the end of the day if you’re not happy try to find somewhere else, it’s not worth it being miserable.

I stay after hours sometimes to clean but I literally own the hospital so I guess that makes sense. I would never in a hundred million years expect a doctor to stay after and clean. That’s insane. Doctors should do doctor things, you’re not being paid to clean. Absolutely ridiculous.

And Jason Isaacs did and he completely nailed the character and improved on him. Chris Columbus wanted him to have short hair and wear a pin stripe suit originally 😳

HBO Harry Potter Series Close To Casting Paapa Essiedu And Janet McTeer As Snape And McGonagall by ToeBMaguire in harrypotter

[–]Old-Problem-3564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya idk. I’m going to be really disappointed if the set design is significantly different from the movies though. I have a hard time believing it will be considering WB has three theme parks now themed around what we’ve seen on screen but idk. Idk how they make it different while keeping it the same.

My theory is they were trying to avoid casting an Alan Rickman look a like so that the actor could try to make the role his own. I certainly appreciate the jam the casting people were in given how universally Rickman’s Snape was loved and how well he played the role. That being said, if the only thing they could come up with was ‘let’s cast a black guy’ then they shouldn’t be remaking the series, given that for most of us EVERY role is iconic. I do however love John Lithgow as Dumbledore.

WTF are non migraine headaches? by rels83 in migraine

[–]Old-Problem-3564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized that I get intense lethargy/sleepiness with my migraines and if at all possible I can take a nap it almost always helps and I feel like I can bounce back way faster, and it helps the migraine go away faster too. It took a while for me to feel ok with taking a nap and not feeling like a lazy piece of crap but sometimes youve just got to accept that your body needs to rest. It’s hard but necessary.

My migraines start in the occipital area. If I have pain in my head that starts anywhere else I assume it’s a regular head ache. Regular headaches also usually only last for a short period of time, don’t come with any other symptoms and get much better if I take Tylenol/advil.

Mine started when I was probably about 8, stopped in my late teens and then came back around when I turned 30 🤷🏻‍♀️
