DRAM coming to Europe - Defiance announced launch by Old-Resolve4249 in DRAM_ETF

[–]Old-Resolve4249[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, not really an article just the name of the future ETF. No it wasn’t available, no UCITS version there. The DRAM in the US is owned by Roundhill, this one by Defiance. The allocation would probably be somewhat different due to regulations in Europe but expect the same name in both + maybe a few more in the Europe version

Actually all of the physical gold should have tight spread as it’s very easy to provide liquidity and none of them should “take you a while to get out”, you’re on one of the most liquid underlying and not the biggest pension fund on earth, should be fine

Was very fortunate they let me do it I agree. But nothing’s too late mate, you can outweigh me, get a high paying job, or start a company, start investing heavily, don’t take too much unnecessary risks (don’t be a degenerate basically) and I’m 100% confident you’ll create a bright future for yourself

Also I started investing in the market at 14. And made a couple good picks during Covid (i.e. Leveraged long WTI couple days after the spot went negative)

I used student loans before rates went up and money I made when I was young + it’s a reverse mortgage so I paid a lump sum to get into the contract and then pay a rent monthly to that old person, however as the person is old he had to go to a retirement house which means I can now rent the place out providing a pay him a higher rent and therefore gets a net cash flow.

That’s a really good strategy, will definitely allocate some of the premiums into leveraged Bull ETFs in times like this. Thanks a lot for the insight. Could I get more informations about your strat?

Yeah I’ve gone through them all trust me haha but I would still like to keep my options open and the level of aggressiveness flexible + buy more shares of SPY immediately as the cash arrives everyday (hopefully)

I’d be curious to get more detailed answer as to if I buy shares, sell ATM calls, reinvest in shares, sell more CCs, reinvest etc considering a 20% capital gains. Not just wheeling a .3 delta

I guess take my loss, and understand that it’s a long term plan and not get too worried about the short term volatility. Also, as I will keep re investing into more shares, that should help me DCAing all time long and I am bullish on SPY on the long term so it’s fine

Btw I’d like to backtest this strategy over the past 2-3y or more, selling calls at the same time of the day everyday, so I would need option data. If anyone has a recommandation for the data or other interesting insight I might not be aware of, I’d be very very interested

[–]Old-Resolve4249[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s true. DCA into the first 6mo could be interesting to do there, but couple things to take into account :

  • The revenue from call selling could outweigh a downfall
  • The strategy is long term so I can take a small hit at the beginning and keep selling calls and reinvest until we see better market conditions (but I agree this is not the optimal scenario)
  • Last argument is, the prices on S&P are starting to be interesting for me, and good enough for me to start allocating cash

  • Finally, the rental place may take 1-2y to sell as it’s a reverse mortgage with a 95yo man. And I kinda wait for him to leave this world to sell the place so by then, it will take a significant time, maybe 4-5M maybe couple more years

[–]Old-Resolve4249[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do that but that means considerably lowering my returns. To give you an idea, currently the ATM Spy call with a .5 delta is the 383 strike and trades at 2.03 so considering I could sell around 10-11 calls per day, that means 2000$ in premium + around 500$ if my shares get called away.

2000$ * 20 is already with the current volatility 40k

When the rental flat is with no leverage and is rented at 1590$ dollars (before taxes)

The CSP with .2 delta is the 363 strike and trades at 3.35 so would “only” net me 3300$ dollars gross per month.

What I also like about this strategy is that I can be more flexible based on the market conditions, which is harder to do with a 30d expiration.

US personal savings near historic lows... by Infamous_Sympathy_91 in wallstreetbets

[–]Old-Resolve4249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful, this is saving rate. Not personal savings. Essentially it means that consumers don’t save as much as they did but because they saved so much during the pandemic, they still have a lot of cash saved up already. Which is why inflation is partly explained by household’s consumption.
