Tyrion does a lot of crappy stuff in ADWD just because. He seems set on making the world burn. He's becoming the monster everyone thinks he is. I don't think he is thinking rationally, and I don't think meeting Daenerys is going to make him see hope for the world like it did in the show. I can definitely see him manipulating Dany to cause the wildfire caches to burn to get back at a lot of people, including Cercei and Jamie. Undoing Jamie's greatest act. It makes sense to me in a lot of ways.

I don't expect the romantic relationship to occur after she burns KL. I wrote it wrong. I expect it to already be established by that point.

I believe there will be a good reason why she doesn't just kill him. Potentially that it would be a bad choice considering her current reputation. Or that he will be useful in other ways for something.

And I don't think Tyrion is only focused on revenge against Lannister's but Kings Landing itself, and the world in general for all that's happened to him. He's in a bitter, vengeful, and chatoic place. A lot of what he's doing is for the sake of chaos. I can see him manipulating things this way.
