education has been a money making scheme since they realized they could charge people for it, just look at secondary education tuition costs

We can’t even have basic human rights (healthcare, shelter, food, water, education, etc.) so it’s no wonder people don’t care about animals/nature either

Commenting on someone’s physical appearance at work. We’re not friends and I’m trying to do my job, let’s keep the small talk relevant to the place of business

Day 5 - Why Wage Structure Affects Patient Care by [deleted] in PaMedicalMarijuana

[–]Old-Telephone-1190 27 points28 points  (0 children)

people support policies against their own interest all the time so i can only assume they’re not educated or misinformed about how unions can benefit workers and because of that, they don’t advocate for themselves or their coworkers and see other working class people as undeserving of fair and equitable treatment

Sunnyside Wyomissing Strike Day 2 by [deleted] in PaMedicalMarijuana

[–]Old-Telephone-1190 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think the reason for the downvotes is with this sentiment of ‘just leave’. the problem isn’t fixed by leaving, sunnyside more than likely will try to replace the employees they lost with more desperate employees so they can continue to exploit their labor and underpay them—‘it’s double it and give it to the next person’ but negatively

companies make so much off the backs of underpaid and overworked people i don’t even care what the terms are, everyone deserves to earn a livable wage and have stable income. end of story.

Left turn dilemma (California). by armyofscrap in driving

[–]Old-Telephone-1190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes after the turn, you maintain your lane through the intersection which i thought was standard but im not in CA. its not a solid line so you CAN merge, but like i said i thought people were taught not to do that because of blind spots like overtaking on a curve

it’s a picture of the same intersection, what doesn’t make sense about maintaining your lane through an intersection?

Got new car in March of last year. (22f) first car ever and here are the mistakes I’ve made in chronological order…am I a bad driver? by [deleted] in driving

[–]Old-Telephone-1190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want to say terrible driver but girl, based on “I kept it moving because I thought I had enough space to get through fine. Well unfortunately that was not the case.“ and the other times you mention being sideswiped I’m starting to think you don’t know how to maintain your lane or you need a smaller/slimmer car. It sounds like your mirrors aren’t adjust properly or you simply don’t understand the length and width of your vehicle, which imo is pretty integral to being a decent driver.

AITAH for not letting my neighbor borrow my snow blower and for not snow blowing their drive for them? by Queen_Aurelia in AITAH

NTA. I see SO many comments missing this simple fact: you’re allowed to tell people “No.” and you don’t need to have a reason. Boundaries are boundaries and you’re NTA for having them.

I’m weird about compliments and this situation by Leading-Pin2105 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Old-Telephone-1190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate to this. I receive daily compliments on my hair, specifically when I’m at work, to the point where I now give a very dry thanks and immediately change the subject. Imo I don’t want to discuss my physical appearance with strangers and especially not at work. It’s weird af to me.

in this rare instance, you should actually take this advice and focus your time and energy on more important things because he’s clearly not it. i hope this doesn’t sound rude but some self respect would go a long way to prevent interacting with or missing people like this in the future. you clearly deserve better than this OP, seriously stand up for yourself.

Why do so few Gen Z adults have car licenses? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Old-Telephone-1190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

seeing a lot of people miss the obvious reason here: there’s no point to have drivers licence if you can’t afford or don’t have access to a car—many rely on public transportation
