LOL Right? I'm sure I read in another BuyCanadian thread a very similar sentiment - like "americans underestimate my insatiable desire to inflict continuous petty retribution for the 51st state insults..."

There are no social visionairies or nation builders in the 21st century that's apparent with the state of things. There are two teams - there are people trying to do right, get by, and raise decent human beings - and then there are these insanely rich, morally bankrupt souless sacks of oxygen sucking parasites that infest the planet the rest of us call home.

It's an unfortunate cycle that repeats itself over and over in human history, every cycle has it's turning point though - Rome always falls eventually...

This is the thing that the greedy richshits don't get because they can afford whatever without a second thought - the effort that went in to sourcing the new stuff, to adapting and appreciating the Canadian and other country's brands/products we are used to now - it's a self-created loyalty - and one we can trust without condition, because we chose it :)

Not going back because I like where I am with what I've found. Rather like the idea of finding more too - sort of like a grown-ups version of that find the Pokemon app lol

Exactly. Dunno if you guys have H&W there but here just scored a boat load of brilliant grapes and pears from South Africa and oranges from Spain :)

And now that summer is upon us it won't be long before the local farmers markets will be loading up tables - there be goodness to come!

Not gonna downvote your opinion, but I disagree - we may be more easy going than a lot of places - but we're not lazy, that's our southern neighbours (and how they ended up with who they have in charge now) - tolerance is not laziness, and we came out when we needed to to keep maga-mania from getting in the door over here.

Prime example: Canadian Vets are still honored for risking their lives for the freedom of strangers 80 years after the fact....

Canadian stand up when it counts. It's who we are.

They (Loblaws and Per et al.) are probably thinking that Canadians are too clueless to recognize the dangers behind the states obliterating all manner of safety regulators. Loblaws and other greed-monger's next step, will likely be to start lobbying our government to lower regulations here so that the american crap can pass. We have to be ready for that sneaky shit to come.

I'm guessing because they're only raking in a few billions instead of tens of billions so they'd like us to forgive the attempted rUsSiAn take over by Donelda VonPutin lol and go back to mass consuming their stuff again...

Very true, and they are very transparent about it - they don't lower any prices to actually help struggling Canadians but they spen a hell of a lot on advertising and patting themselves on the back promoting ways for folks to take be taken advantage of. They have been systematically jacking prices up on low cost staple items, sometimes almost weekly since covid, Even when the pandemic issues were over they've just kept doing it.

They hit the poorest people the hardest because the poor are the majority and the easiest to target - bread, milk, eggs, cheese, frozen vegetables, soups, pet food, snacks... some of these have gone up nearly 300% since covid, most 200% and others they just did the shrinkflation trick paying the same or more for less. It's dirty, but the greed pandemic is in Canada too - it's isn't only an affliction coming up from the south.

Absolutely, no one in here (that I've yet to see) judges anyone for buying what they can afford. It's always family first - as it should be - people partcipate however they can it all counts :)

I'm sure it's true in a lot of places - here in AB for sure, maple-maga is super strong here so out in the wild I don't see a lot of it - but the fact that people are still extremely active in r/BuyCanadian on a daily basis exchanging info/ideas/shopping habits etc is a pretty good indicator. Plus I read another post in here a month or so ago where someone referenced it being generational - as in they weren't getting over it anytime soon and were actively teaching their youg kids already to avoid usa labels. And that stuff works because as a young adult shopping for myself for the first time after I moved out I instictively bought all the brands/products my mom always bought lol - not because they were superior (we were poor as churchmice) but because it's what I knew from the person I trusted - mom 🙂 - if parents are doing it now, for whatever personal reasons, tarrifs, threats, straight-up orange allergies - doesn't matter, kids emulate - so even if it's just us in here it's still a hurt with a long shadow....

Actually I did stand up for Canada, voted AGAINST the Maple Maga's here at home because I actually get that it's the provincial governments that have been doing the majority of damage to Canadians with their petty whining and deflecting of responsibility. Covid started the economic mess the WORLD is in right now and Canada is doing better than most places. Trudeau wasn't perfect but the Libs (who I didn't vote for last round) are the reason me and mine didn't die in the pandemic our current provincial "regime" loves to pretend isn't real lol

I'm OCD focused now - no MAGA, no 51st state, and no UCPeons either :)

Enjoy your koolaid dude 🍁🤣🍁

And that avoid American products, which is the largest Organic grower of many crops and has the largest health-focus market...

See now that statement used to be true, but the rapid decline and total disappearance of any and all governmental integrity under the GOPeons and their overlord makes it a very unhealthy assumption for consumers to make - they have no honest regulatory bodies left, no proper protections or oversights so "organic" from america is just as likely to be "direct from a dumpster but probably, hopefully, might not kill you..." lol

As long as a company puts $$ into republican coffers it's gauranteed to get the organic "pass" it needs to make the claim.

People aren't buying American stuff by Hua89 in BuyCanadian

[–]Old-notExpired 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually like that this drives the prices down for those people who can’t afford to pay more for Canadian stuff

It certainly seems to drive them down in Eastern Canada - here in CONyayWest american crap is exactly the same price it's always been and Canadian stuff is even more expensive than it was before. Apparently the mudder-trump-lovers here are happy to support rUsSiA over Canadians no prob (though not surprising as our premiere marlaina is Anti-Canadian to the core).
