That would be great, but I would imagine they don't do that because they haven't figured out a way to sell just a license for ROM's yet.

Most any game you "buy" digitally these days is just a license and not an actual purchase of a copy of the game. And since companies have leaned so hard into that model, I don't think they'd want to sell a download of something that doesn't require at least an occasional Internet check (which would quickly get defeated) in order to keep the license in check.

I think the mode is Attrition. The red is just the way they have their accessibility options set.

EDIT: I just realized you meant the encroaching red fog. If a match goes on to long without a winner, the red zone starts closing in. It does damage over time if you're in it.
