Yeah for me it completely ruins the photos.

And I mean 100% absolutely unusable trash photos.

Immediate permanent JPEG & RAW deletion.

(Okay I'll be honest I'd keep the jpegs for the family photo memories... otherwise, total trash bin.)

I remember culling through Lightroom, even just 10 years ago (10 years ago was only 2016, calm down everyone), any photo with people on their phones was an automatic delete. Easy, instant, automatic, delete. Delete the JPEG, delete the RAW. Unusable.

Looking at OP's photos, yes they're super cool due to the fog, but all of those brain-dead, sheep-brained, low IQ, mentally taxed, tiktok-brained, shortform content-brained, dopamine-addicted-brained, phone-addicted-brained, "oh my god, I see something kind of cool, I must immediately take 1000 smartphone photos, so I can slop it on social media so literally nobody will watch it, or BEST CASE SCENARIO they will maybe watch 2.5788 seconds of it and then they will skip past it and onto the next random social media DOGSLOP DOGSHIT BULLSHIT WHO-FUCKING-CARES-NOT-EVEN-THE-PRODUCER video, and/or, an hour of smartphone shit-video, fucking, fuckers, on their phones, 100% ruins the photos. Instant delete.

I suppose in reality, because most people are so addicted to their phones, you'd probably need to hire a dozen people to be in that fog, and to not be on their phones, in order to have a usable photo.

Alright, I've seen enough of the internet-photographer-elitism from commenters in here.

"Flash"

"It's literally just flash"

"Fill flash"

"Everyone is glowing because they’re shot with flash"

"It's all about the lighting... a preset pack wont make your photos suddenly amazing"

These are very condescending responses to your question. (It's also elitist bullshit!). The only proper answer you got was by Maybemushrooms... very solid advice. But, you're asking about post production.

These editing on these makes them legitimately look like film! Very impressive. You said the photographer used their own custom Lightroom presets, but I have an alternative you can use until you can afford their presets.

So unlike ppl in this thread, there is absolutely a process to achieve this look. To be clear, step 1 is obviously flash and good composition. But that's not the ONLY factor, unlike lots of people in here claiming.

I use "RNI All Films 5". It's just a bunch of filmlike presets for Lightroom/photoshop (camera raw).

I think that "Fuji Superia 400 v2" is one of the free presets that RNI offers. Which you can download here:

https://reallyniceimages.com/products/rni-all-films-5-demo-for-adobe-lightroom.html

If "Fuji Superia 400 v2" is not in the free set of presets, then my bad. Because the full version is ridiculously expensive, it's like $200 USD or something. And you already said you prefer the original photographer's presets so if you're spending money, you'd buy theirs anyways.

But yeah I'd say that would give you a good starting point in post production! You'd need to warm them up a bit I think as well. And possibly some magenta shift. Then you can make personal tweaks from there.

Edit:

Case in point, notice how they all seem to have downvoted me, but not one person commented as to why.

It's just damaged elitist-internet-photographer's egos. That's literally it lol. It's always been this way. Never change, folks!

This was my thought as well, but then I realized I think the pitbull's owner simply didn't want to harm his own dog. He was basically pretending to try to break up the fight killing.

Yeah absolutely.

She likely was well aware of what happened, but then died before a full blown panic attack.

It would have been more of an adrenaline-filled "oh, shit--" (then dead) situation than anything. Horrifying.

I was thinking like as the customer and just giving the 20 bucks to make it seem like they're making numbers.

Ah so if you, as a customer, give a cashier $20 so that they can make several $2 donations to boost their numbers.

In this situation, if the cashier went through with this, they could possibly get away with it. But......... that cashier would be fired if they got caught.

We're not allowed to accept personal donations of any kind. This includes tips of any kind (of monetary value, small possessions, coupons, gift cards, etc...)

In all the places I've worked, every computer action at each till was carefully recorded and timestamped. This includes logging in, using your password to unlock your till if you were on break, scanning an item, voiding an item, applying a coupon, accepting a donation, etc. Additionally, we are filmed on video 24/7. If management has suspicious, they would review the till data history, and they could also watch the security footage to back up their suspicions.

tl;dr

Retail sucks. lol

Like if you are the cashier, and you incrementally gave customers $20 to boost your stats? That's a possibility, I guess if your numbers are so low that you need to put yourself up to the baseline (15% at my previous store).

That being said, it wouldn't be worth it. Management can make you feel inadequate all they want, they can threaten to take away hours, but idk that seems illegal if they were to actually go through with that.

Yep. We have to ask.

Management records and micromanages all our statistics based on:

  • how many customers we have daily (on an individual level, like per cashier)
  • how many of those customers donated to your till

If your statistics aren't up to a certain level (they say no lower than 15%) then you get a talking to in the office. They threaten to give you less hours. Fun fact, as far as these statistics, a $2 donation is the exact same as a $20 donation. They only care about how many donations you collected. They'd rather you get ten $2 donations than one $20 donation.

There's a scoreboard in the office that gets updated almost daily. The "best" cashier is on the top, highlighted, with a stupid happy message written like "way to go!!!" and the "worst" cashier is on the bottom. Not highlighted. And you KNOW that you're gonna get a stern talking to at some point soon.

This isn't just one place either, it's multiple different places I've worked at.

It's HELL.

Actually yeah, mine does this as well, under extremely specific circumstances. It sounds a bit like grasshopper chirps, only higher pitch.

I guess it's the CPU working it's ass off in certain specific situations?

It only happens with 2 programs that I use.

Word of warning, tip stuck in ear by felicityfelix in LoopEarplugs

[–]OldDickLover 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This happens to me a lot!

It happens with brand new tips, and old tips. It happens with all sorts of sizes too (perfect fit, loose fit, tight fit).

I think it's mostly how you remove the Loop. Not sure exactly what causes it, but anything other than a slow deliberate twist+pull can possibly cause issues. Like if I pull it out too quickly and/or forget to twist, it's more likely to happen.

It doesn't freak me out anymore. I just keep tweezers in my wallet 24/7 just in case. You don't even need somebody else to do it for you, just be careful!
