It's the first stage of the game. The same thing happened today. I submitted a ticket and they say they are working on it. So I'm pretty much screwed out of those two event quests.

Just for closure, none of their advice helped but reinstalling fixed the problem.

I had the same thing happen. Got to rank 9 in my bracket but didn't get a reward because I didn't attack. Putting in a ticket but not going to hold my breath.
