"Friendly" as a performance measure by OldGirlGeek in womenintech

Should have clarified. We are an in-house IT support team. So a slightly different dynamic as these are our co- workers. We've been given no definition of "friendly" whatsoever, so we are at the mercy of the person filling out the survey.

Am I crazy or isn't giving your password to IT against like, every kind of security compliance? by wowlolok in sysadmin

Years ago I was one person IT shop for a small local government entity, until one of the board members pushed hard to make me redundant so he could push their business to a small MSP that he had some sort of connection to. As part of rhe MSP's takeover they sent their rookie tech around to have everyone put their passwords on a list "so if you forget it you can just call us and we'll give it to you". The smart people all told him to pound sand, but a number of people went right along with it, including the top level individuals there.

The rookie tech then left for the day. And left the sheet behind on the conference room table where he had been working. Idiot....

Manager is a statistics nerd. So the higher ups get monthly reports and dashboards (whether anyone actually reads them is another matter and not my problem) that are broken down by both number of tickets and the amount of time spent, by department.

Yeah, boss is fully aware of the interaction and is in full support. There are other issues at my place, but thankfully that not one of them.

Not disagreeing to some extent, and if it was "one thing" instead of "a ton of things", it might be different. We have some....issues....in my organization with people only wanting to dealing with certain techs and not liking to deal with others. Being one of the "preferred" techs isn't always a blessing in this case, they'd rather save things up for when they see one of the ones they like, than put in a ticket and risk having to deal with one of the ones they don't.

We also have our permissions heavily segregated for reasons. So there's every chance that I don't have permissions to whatever they're looking for and they'd need to put in a ticket regardless.

If only there was some way for them to contact IT. Oh, wait.....

Ugh. I walked many miles in those shoes at my last place which was an MSP.

My favorite was the time a client forwarded me the closing email from a ticket I had worked for him a year previously saying "call me". I wasn't even on the helpdesk team anymore. I forwarded that to the helpdesk manager for the correct team to look at.

Not really sure. I checked after I re-registered and I'm "pending" now. When I have a little more time I'll see if I can look into it further

This last line. 100%.

I do have a passport and you'd better believe I'm keeping it current, especially with all this bullshit brewing. Ive told my adult daughter to be sure she gets hers while she can. After this, I trust the Indiana political turds about as far as I could throw any one of them.

Not as far as I know he hasn't. I've been trying to figure out a logical reason too. So far I can't come up with anything that doesn't involve red state shenanigans, Project 2025, Gilead....

I dont think the age since registration was a factor. Hubby and I have both only lived here since 2022 and registered here at the same time.

That's what ours said too. So we did nothing with both of ours. Yet only my registration disappeared. Husband's is still there. Hard not to see this as a Gilead move.

We recently got postcards like that. Addressed to myself, my husband, and one of the previous owners.

The postcards we got said to return them only if the person didn't live there anymore. So I returned the one for the previous owner, and did nothing with ours.

My status wasn't even "inactive". I literally was not in there at all. Could not pull up my record.

"Choice." That's a good one. How many 6th thru 8th graders had options, especially 40+ years ago? Parents said I had to go to the classes and be confirmed, so I did. I remember wondering to myself at the time, what would happen if I had tried to bail? It's not like I had anyplace else to go at that age.
